Just in Time For Valentine’s Day – An App Called Twyxt

Many of you are not aware, but I have found the man of my dreams, well so far he appears to be that man ;-) We have been working on blending our family together, the great news is that our combined five children have personalities that get along 100% .  Blending the kids together during the visitation schedule my boyfriend has is easy, it is the adult part of things and kids activities, schedules and so forth that gets us adults overwhelmed! As we near Valentine’s Day it seems that there has been a free app called Twyxt created to help keeps couples in sync better.

Currently my boyfriend and I use text messages to keep track of our kids and work schedules. I work from home so I am easily found head into the office most of the day, he works outside of the home about twenty minutes away. I have three kids, he has two kids. Mine are in extra curricular activities and one of his is in cheer leading. You see? We need to communicate daily through text message and do not know what each one is up to after work because our kids have such hectic, involved lives.

With an app like Twyxt being used, I would no longer have to wonder if he has his kids that evening or has to run to finish up some of his storage packing runs, or pick up his daughter from cheer. I would not have to wonder if I have to meet him or his kids somewhere to assist. With an app like Twyxt, the boyfriend and I could easily plan our days by simply looking at this app. Also when we want to send silly pics of our day to each other so as to keep each other motivated, we can do that in our own private app messaging center. Sometimes we just text each other our moods such as “blah” or “yippy” because we both are complete dorks! Having Twyxt to show emoticons in a more creative away would make us smile during our hectic work and parenting lives, which in turns continues to build on our amazing relationship.

What is Twyxt all about you ask?

twyxt iPhone app screen shotTwyxt is a free iPhone app that allows a couple to stay connected much deeper than text messaging can do. Put together a calendar shared by you and your loved one so that each of you can easily monitor and note when kids have their special events, you have that webinar or he has that company conference. All in one app, in one place from your iPhone. It’s easy to communicate, stay on partner status with each other and simply have fun, loving conversations through out the day using Twyxt.

Twyxt is a private way for you and your loved one to share pictures, moods, lists, notes and messages all in one easy to access place. No more losing your private husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend pictures with all of those pictures your kids took on your iPhone. Consider Twyxt your app to keep you connected in a loving way and continue to build on the perfect relationship you and your loved one have.

Twyxt was born by Co-Founder Roman Weishaupl who realized that his {now ex} girlfriend was keeping an ongoing journal of their text messages. There was a need for a dedicated space for a journal like communication combined with the ease of sharing schedules and pictures with your loved one in an app base. That is when Twyxt was created with four other founders.

I keep telling all of my friends that there is “an app for that” and each working day I have as a blogger, I find new fun apps that totally make me realize that there may just really be an app for everything!

Do you want to try Twyxt with your honey?

American Idol Top 10 and AT&T’s #ItCanWait Campaign

My mom and I headed off to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH on Saturday to meet & greet the American Idols Top 10 of 2012, but we were heading there with the mission to help spread more awareness about the #ItCanWait Campaign from AT&T.

There we are waiting outside in the hot sunshine for our names to be called to head inside to meet and greet the 10 American Idols and get their signature.

Prior to the show and during intermission you saw up on the screen various commercials for sponsors of the American Idols Live Summer Tour show and one of those was that #ItCanWait campaign from AT&T. Everyone there was asked to tweet on Twitter using the hashtag and take the pledge to not text and drive.

Each Idol was shown saying why they are taking the pledge or who they are taking the pledge for, and I have taken the AT&T’s #ItCanWait Campaign pledge to not text and drive for my children. They learn by example and if I am on the road texting while driving I may as well be telling my kids that it’s okay for them to do when they become teen drivers.

All too often I see drivers of cars on the road with their eyes downward, clearly they are texting while driving or at least reading a text message. People, it’s not that important. Have we become so involved with cell phones that we can’t even drive down the road without checking that message? We seem to have started to have this “I want it now” mentality when in reality “good things come to those who wait”.

So I ask you all today, to go over to AT&T’s website and take the pledge, then send me a tweet @brandyellen telling me that you took this pledge. I want to see just how many of you will pledge to not text & drive.  Remember to use the hashtag #ItCanWait in your tweet to me!

May you all have a safe and happy week!

Mobile Marketing: Have you tried this?

It is the year 2010 and businesses are looking for a variety of ways to reach consumers, even during the political campaigns it seems mobile marketing has become a new way to market whatever you have to say or sell to consumers.  There are a variety of ways to market to your potential customers, aka prospects, but it seems that using text messaging may be a profitable thing to test drive. With some companies you can test drive their marketing program by signing up for a free trial in mobile marketing.

A free trial will get you 25 free text messages, allowing you to virtually test drive the system without a financial commitment. Whatever you choose to do, there are new ways to start marketing to prospects and trying to reach a larger audience. With so many people owning cell phones these days and being addicted to text messaging, I say give mobile marketing a test drive and let me know how it works out for you. I would be curious to see your results.

A study was done to see which phones were used in 2010, the top mobile phones and a majority of consumers seem to be using smartphones this time around. I am a Blackberry user myself and wouldn’t know what I would do without it. Smartphones and text messaging plans allow me to stay in contact with friends, family and clients virtually anywhere, anytime and without much effort.

I say out with the old and in with the new. Do not get rid of your current marketing plan but look into adding mobile marketing to your business and see how much it assists you in reaching your goals.

Single Mom Dating, Watch Out

The dating scene can take you for a loop! From singles who are looking for a no strings attached one night stand to those singles who want to marry you within just a couple weeks of knowing you. I have experienced it all in the short while I have been dating and although I know my ex husband and I were simply not meant to continue our lives together these experiences have made me remember the good times we had as friends.

So I guess I can share a story … I was talking to this guy online, he messaged me and we chatted via email for a bit then it went to text message conversation. Of course I was talking about how every man I end up talking to online turns out to ask me a private question within just a few seconds, but this guy oh he waited a little while, let’s say a few days of short emails, but finally on the first text message he proceeded to discuss some well, information not worthy of sharing on this blog.

This meant I was done, could no longer text this guy because after all I am worth more than just a text message, dirty talking female. I am a mother and they will always come first which means attraction to a man is way low on my priority list at this moment. Gosh I just got divorced! I am, however, out there looking at the singles and trying to see if I can’t form a friendship with the opposite sex in a way that allows me to have a friend to watch movies with, eat chips and dip with or lounge all day on Sunday watching silly movies or shows.

I have found a few men who have become very good friends of mine and they were found through online dating, so after dealing with a few “bad apples” my “prince charmings” have shown through, well as a friend anyways. I am a firm believer that all the best relationships between a man and a woman start with friendship. When you are least expecting it the perfect person for you will fall into your lap as long as you put yourself out there to be found.  The singles I met who are now good friends will text me a smiley face when I am down, bring me a Caramel Frappe to make me smile and just be there should I need a shoulder to cry on.

The online dating scene certainly can take you for a loop but remember that there are a lot of nice men and woman out there, just be patient, laugh off the ones who are not right for you and move forward to finding that perfect for you person.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post but the stories shared are that of my own.

Ever Seen a Snowman With a Mohawk?

My first born and only daughter is from a previous relationship, and when she spends time doing something neat with either of us we have been known to text pics back n forth or messages, whatever. The point is we get along very well as friends and raising our daughter together is pretty easy, even though we don’t always agree on parenting rules or household rules, we do agree that we love our daughter and don’t want her involved in the drama some shared custody children have.

Last week I was sitting around with a few of my friends when I got a text message and it was really late, like near midnight if not after it. I opened up the text to see this:

Ki and Mohawk Snoman

My sweet daughter next to a very cute snowman. So come Tuesday morning while my daughter and I were chatting I told her that she made a really cute snowman at Daddy’s house. At first she was curious how I knew about that, and so I told her Daddy sent me a text with the picture. She of course made a “duh” type face and proceeded to tell me that the snowman was suppose to be a real snowman but Daddy made a triangle type mouth, the nose wasn’t that of a snowman and then Daddy put a mohawk on the snowman!
