Yes, These Kids Have Already Been in the Pool #NH #VT

These kids of mine have already ventured into the pool at my Dad’s home in Vermont. Yes. They did. The pool was about 70 degrees. Of course, me being the parent I am, told them only dip your feet. Seriously, what was I thinking? Dip your feet means get in the water up to your chest, which turned into my Dad saying to me, “what are you talking about? If they can put their feet in then they can get in!” Leave it to Dad … so in they went.

Kicking off Summer Early

So the kids… decided to listen to Grampa because Mom is chop liver when big ole Grampa is around ;)

I love that all three kids were having a blast, after all they hadn’t slept very well the night before. I worked 10-12 on Saturday morning and knew the kids had to get out of the house that day. I figured what better place than Grampas! It’s all farm land with obviously this pool too. Once we arrived and the van was stopped, we all were at peace. I love it!

I adore that Aj was smiling, laughing and joking away with everyone. It was a fun time for all and Miss Olivia was there too with my sister …

It was a beautiful day full of swimming, chatting, laughing and walking out to the barn to see the cow as well as behind Grampa’s to see the piggies. I can’t wait for some food from those piggies!

The pool was warm to the kids, but it was too early for this Mama to be hopping in. Have you gone in an outdoor pool yet this year?

I am so Ready for Pool Season

After having a few days of complete awesome warmth and sunshine it has now started to get cold again here in New Hampshire which has left me frustrated and wishing we can just skip Spring now and head into swimming weather. What I wouldn’t give to be pool side watching the kids splash around in the pool. Now that I think about it, while pool season totally rocks, there are some concerns that occur with pool season being that I am a protective Mama and all; pool safety!

Fun in the Summer Escapes Ring Pool

I get so nervous around pools with my children, the oldest has been swimming for many years but is still a beginner in many ways. Let’s face it, no matter the age of your child, a pool can be a dangerous place and that is why you should take the following precautions to ensure that your child is safe during the Summer swimming season;

  1. Have a fence around the pool area as well as a child proof locked gate to the entrance of the pool.
  2. Use an automatic pool cover to keep the water covered, thus not accessible to children.
  3. Educate your children on what the rules are regarding the pool usage.
  4. Make sure the older kids understand they are not to take little kids into the pool without an adult supervising.
  5. Share videos and books with your children to ensure they understand that while a pool can be fun, it also poses many dangers and to not rough house in the pool.

There are many simple, low cost ways to try to instill every bit of safety around the pool this Summer season. Whether you choose to utilize a fence, gate and/or pool cover for your pool alongside setting rules with the children, I wish you all a warm and sunshine Summer full of laughter and great family memory making moments!

Summer Time Fun in the Water

We are water bugs when it comes to Summer time and pools. Miss Ki and Aj have outgrown the normal kiddie type pool so it was time to upgrade to something a bit larger.  The 10′ ring pool from Summer Escapes seemed to be the perfect upgrade. The pool is 24.5″ deep and about 8′ wide for a nice cool off time without the commitment of a real pool and so we call it our king size kiddie pool.

When deciding which larger pool made sense for the budget and our family this pool was the perfect choice. Although it takes forever to fill it unless you hire a water company to come fill it because you don’t want to drain the well, we finally had it full and the kids are enjoying a nice cool down at the end of the day or fun during a hot day that we can’t travel to the neighbors pool or family pool in VT.

So we are enjoying the Summer one swim at a time and as a reminder, always watch your kids in any pool. I do not even leave the inside or the side of the pool for a moment while my kids are in this pool. The good thing is the ladder used to get in and out is removed and it’s kid safe so that they can not access the pool without me being there to assist and give permission.

We will be using our SwimWays gear soon in this pool to practice swimming this year, so keep your eyes out for some fun blog posts about our adventures in swimming!

This is Last Full Week of School and…

I spent all of yesterday morning being sick in bed, but one thing that never happens is time stopping for a sick Mama.

My sons have decided that 5am is the time to wake up every day of the week & weekend.

My family wants to really do some extra fun this Summer but it’s difficult to plan.

Last but not least,  the kids are getting ready to hit the pool at our family farm in Vermont this year as often as possible! Of course they only have the kiddie pool at home so this is how they have been practicing!

I don’t mean to sound slightly negative but for some reason I am in a funk. Being sick yesterday probably didn’t help. I will come out of it soon enough. Cheers to end of school and hello to sunshine, smiles and Summer!
