Father’s Day Weekend

We have spent the first week of Summer break enjoying family and pool time. I thought I would share a bit about Father’s Day weekend, we headed out on Saturday to go to the farm, better known as where my Dad lives.

Family Time Summer Break

We enjoyed great conversations, laughter and food with my sis, daughter’s best friend, my three kids step mom and me. It was a wonderful feast! We also played pretend volleyball, went swimming in the pool and just had pure fun!

Roasting Marshmallows

Since my daughter had her best friend over for the whole weekend, we decided to have a fire in the fire pit that night and roast some marshmallows. Three of the four kids made smores, while my son Aj decided to roast a hotdog as he doesn’t much like smores. It was a grand ole time and it just showed my daughter and the boys that Mama knows how to have a great weekend and sleep over partay!

More memory making moments will be shared through out the Summer as we venture to Day out with Thomas in North Conway, NH, Water Country in Portsmouth, NH and have a Reading Under the Stars Event sponsored by Scholastic this Summer.

Yes, These Kids Have Already Been in the Pool #NH #VT

These kids of mine have already ventured into the pool at my Dad’s home in Vermont. Yes. They did. The pool was about 70 degrees. Of course, me being the parent I am, told them only dip your feet. Seriously, what was I thinking? Dip your feet means get in the water up to your chest, which turned into my Dad saying to me, “what are you talking about? If they can put their feet in then they can get in!” Leave it to Dad … so in they went.

Kicking off Summer Early

So the kids… decided to listen to Grampa because Mom is chop liver when big ole Grampa is around ;)

I love that all three kids were having a blast, after all they hadn’t slept very well the night before. I worked 10-12 on Saturday morning and knew the kids had to get out of the house that day. I figured what better place than Grampas! It’s all farm land with obviously this pool too. Once we arrived and the van was stopped, we all were at peace. I love it!

I adore that Aj was smiling, laughing and joking away with everyone. It was a fun time for all and Miss Olivia was there too with my sister …

Shown above is Miss Livy hanging onto Grampa’s hand while my sis is in the background watching her little baby girl walk around with Gramps.

It was a beautiful day full of swimming, chatting, laughing and walking out to the barn to see the cow as well as behind Grampa’s to see the piggies. I can’t wait for some food from those piggies!

The pool was warm to the kids, but it was too early for this Mama to be hopping in. Have you gone in an outdoor pool yet this year?

What? You Only Have Water in the Cooler? @WATAAH

No …. it’s WAT-AAH! A completely different thing, right? Well yes and no. To the kids, yes. To me, no.

The day of my two sons birthday party had arrived and the cases of WAT-AAH! were ready in the cooler with lots of ice to make sure the children and adults at the party were replenished during this hot Summer day. The sun shined down hard on this past Saturday when we hosted a birthday party for the boys. It made all of us sweat and grab for more and more water, but the thing is, WAT-AAH! being the only option in our cooler was not taken by the kids very well … at first.

WAT-AAH at party

Aj and K-man both, almost in unison were like “oh man” when I showed them where they could find drinks for their friends and their own self. I laughed, because I know my boys love WAT-AAH! but given a choice obviously they are children and would much prefer a sugary drink. I firmly believe that the label on the WAT-AAH! is what gets the kids interested and not to mention the way to spell it. While I am not 100% sure how it was meant to be pronounced, WAT-AAH! sounds really appealing to young children when you say it in an “argh matey” type of pirate voice. That is how I was able to get the kids to drink up their WAT-AAH!

drink WAT-AAH

WAT-AAH! became a fun conversational piece because of their label design and the way I pronounced it with my best pirate voice, the kids also pronounce WAT-AAH! in that tone so it was a way to intrigue their friends to take a bottle or two while in attendance at the birthday party. I felt a little like a marketing girl, promoting WAT-AAH! because most parents were asking me about “WAT-AAH! is” and checking out the label. I had a great time promoting this brand during the birthday party because I am convinced it’s worthy of my time to promote. While WAT-AAH! did send me their product for free, and I did disclose that to the party guests, I firmly believe that more parents may start looking for this on our local stores shelves. I know of one local convenience center that sells WAT-AAH! and I was super excited to see it there.  I let the parents know where I had seen this locally and to check it out. It’s such a great way to encourage water drinking with the kiddos!

You can find the locations near you that sell WAT-AAH! so that your kids can feel STRONGAAH today on the WAT-AAH! website. Also be sure to connect with WAT-AAH! on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with their latest fun & news.

How to Find the Perfect Pram

When you find out you are pregnant, there are lots of things you need to plan! Choosing the right pram is just one of these considerations and at first it might not seem to be a great deal of importance. It is in fact more crucial than most people realise, as your choice of pram will affect both how easily you are able to go out with your baby and your posture. Finding the pram or stroller which will suit you best requires a little bit of careful thinking. View it as an investment, rather like buying a family car. Reflect carefully on the following practical points to help you to make the right decision.

1. First of all, think about what age you need the pram from and how long you would like it to last.

Lots of prams nowadays are cleverly designed to suit you from 3 months to four years old. However, if the pram is for a newborn, the pram needs to recline at the very least 130 degrees from horizontal. Alternatively, if you are purchasing a pram for a toddler, you may prefer to choose a lightweight stroller. Then there is the future to consider. Are you hoping to use the same pram for future children? If so, a hardy and durable pram will need to be purchased.

2. Consider your budget.

Think about, realistically, how much you are willing to spend on a pram, taking into account other payment commitments you are making by purchasing items for the baby. Would a cheaper version of the pram you really like perhaps serve the same purpose? Would it be better to buy a pram that is adjustable for your babies development or would you rather buy a new pram from when they go from laying down to sitting up.

3. Ensure both parents are in agreement.

The pram needs to suit both Mum and Dad, in terms of design and the types of activities the pram needs to be suitable for.

·      How heavy is the pram?

·      How hard will it be to lift and fit the pram into the car or when taking it in or out of the house?

·      Will you need an adjustable handle to suit Mum and Dad’s heights?

·      How easy is the pram to fold or collapse? Picture yourself trying to set up the pram whilst also carrying your baby. Can it be done?

4. Consider the activities which will be done whilst pushing the pram:

·      Exercising – If you are planning to run with the pushchair, you need to consider brands designed specifically for this purpose so you keep the baby and yourself safe.

·      Going to the beach – Consider the effect exposure to sand and salt water on the pram’s surfaces.

·      Shopping – There are some 3-wheel models which have a wider wheel base designed for jogging or rough terrain. These models may not be as suitable for using in a supermarket.

5. Other things to consider:

·      Check the wheel locks – make sure they are not easily disengaged and that they are sturdy.

·      Is the basket under the pram large enough?

·      Does the pram have a 5-point safety harness which adjusts to suit the baby?

Whatever pram you end up buying, it should first and foremost be safe enough to carry your precious bundle of joy from A to B. It should also suit both you and your partner in terms of design and usability. If you are planning for more children, it might be wise to choose a pram which can continue to be used as the child gets older and which is hardy enough to last for the duration of your child-rearing years.
