Make it extra special at home

Date nights aren’t always possible outside of the home. This could be due to logistics, childcare or a mixture of the two. Date night isn’t just about heading out; it’s about the alone time with your other half. So why not try and make this time together extra special at home? This can be done in a number of ways. Perhaps the first thing you could focus on is setting the scene. So this might mean setting the table with nice place settings and the good china. Making sure the room is all nice and tidy. It might mean having a bottle of bubbles on ice in the corner, and lowering the lights to set the mood. You could even take the scene setting one step further and consider Rako lighting installation by JNB. The next thing would be the cooking. Why not try a new dish neither have you have tried before. Instead of opting for personal favourites. Consider the atmosphere so light some candles and get some background music on. You could create a lovely romantic date night from the comfort of your own home.

Do something the both have you have never done

Date nights can often be assumed as heading to a restaurant and enjoying a meal. But it doesn’t have to be so traditional as that. Why not choose to use you’re alone time wisely and have some adventures. This could mean trying something new together. Maybe this might mean having a couples massage, enjoying an afternoon tea or attempting indoor skydiving. You could go crazy and go paint-balling, go kart racing or head to the woods for a high wire obstacle course. There are lots you could do with your time, and it would make for some great memories and bonding together.

Surprise each other with what you do for your date

Finally, add an element of surprises to your date nights and arrange it for one another in secret. Take it in turns to do the organising and keep it a secret. This could encourage a little harmless competitiveness as you try and out do one another. But on a side note, it can be quite nice to be surprised and see what thought has gone into it.

I hope this has inspired you to reconsider your date nights.

  2. That is so funny… because hubby and I had a date night last night and when we passed the indoor iFly, we discussed setting up an appointment to go the next date night, LOL

  3. I think these are some great tips. Having date nights are always something that should be done. That reminds me that my husband and I haven’t had one in a while.

  4. This post just reminded me how long it’s been since we’ve had a date night. Definitely too long! I love the idea of trying something new. My husband and I have always said we’re going to take a cooking class, but we haven’t so that might be a good idea! Thanks!
