We only have one life to live, and why not make it the most fulfilling one that we can? Maybe you want to visit all the classic car repair shops, climb a mountain, and learn how to ski. Sometimes, it can be challenging to feel happy and like we’re not missing out on life. Oftentimes, this is because of our mindset. That’s why we’re offering some tips on how to adopt a healthier mindset for a more fulfilled life.
Let’s get into it!
Practice Gratitude
Gratitude is key to building a healthier, stable mindset. By practicing gratitude, you invite yourself to feel appreciative of all that surrounds you. Oftentimes, it’s all too easy to get distracted by the hustle and bustle of life, that we forget to stop and smell the roses. Practicing gratitude is a dedication that you make to yourself to make the time to express thanks for all that is good in your world.
Gratitude Tips:
- Keep a gratitude journal
- Recite gratitude affirmations
- Start and end your day by saying one thing you’re grateful for
Self-Compassion
Self-compassion is the practice of treating yourself with understanding, kindness, and gentleness. This practice allows you to offer a heart-centered approach to whatever you are feeling. It is the same compassion you would give someone you love, but you give it to yourself – which sometimes seems more challenging for us.
When you practice being compassionate with yourself, you help reduce stress and increase feelings of acceptance. In turn, this makes it easier when you start to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed. Instead of shunning yourself, you hold space to allow these feelings to be observed and nurtured lovingly.
Embrace Changes
Change is an inevitable part of our life. In Buddhist culture, they emphasize embracing the impermanence of life. When you resist change, you resist life. There’s no day that will ever be the same, and nothing in life will stay as it is. Instead of fearing this truth, when you embrace it, you start to feel more fulfilled and excited about life.
In order to grow and learn and experience all life has to offer, change has to be welcomed like an old friend. If you find yourself worried about the future, it’s important that you take the time to trust that it will all work out. This doesn’t mean you don’t work to accomplish goals, but instead, you take it one step at a time. You know life changes, and you know this is the only way to experience life to its fullest.
Mindfulness Practices
Mindfulness is a great method to bring you back to the present moment. Being present is vital for feeling fulfilled, as it takes you out of your incessant stream of thoughts and allows you to appreciate and acknowledge what’s in front of you through your senses and awareness. Mindfulness also helps to reduce anxiety, enhance emotional regulation, and help you focus.

- Mindfulness meditation
- Mindfulness eating
