Everyone loves to display their family photographs; not only are you sharing some of your most treasured memories with anyone who comes to call, but every time you walk past those images, they remind you of those happy times when you might be feeling down.
However, these days, you can be a lot more creative with your family photographs that simply printing them out on photo-card paper yourself. There are tonnes of effects online companies can do for you that can turn your humble photo into a masterpiece – here are just a few inventive things you can do with your family photographs to make them more special.
1. Make a Scrapbook

This is a hugely popular idea with most families, but these days you don’t have to do the standard paper scrapbook where you stick the images in yourself. These can become stained and tarnished over time, so why not design one online with a cool pattern and front cover? Save the date templates to make everything clear and in schedule. You’ll still get that quality time as a family to choose all the best images, but when it arrives at your door, it will be a professionally printed book.
2. Design a Calendar
Picking the new calendar each year is a big task – this is going to be the diary for all your activities, so it needs to be perfect. So, if you have a top 12 photos that the family loves, why not design your own calendar so you can enjoy them throughout the year? You’ll be able to pick everything from the text font size to the dimensions of the calendar itself.
3. Turn it into a Canvas
Canvas prints can add real style to your home, so instead of hanging a generic digital print of a flower or a wildlife shot, why not use a photograph of your family? You can create some lovely canvas prints online by uploading your favorite image, and the company does the rest. For a contemporary twist, get it printed in black and white.
4. Create a Wall Art Feature

If you prefer lots of photos rather than one large one, why not use a selection of family images to create a feature at home? Take a large ornate frame, and paint it whatever colour matches your décor. Instead of putting an image in there, ties rows of coloured string across it horizontally, and then clip up family polaroid photos using cute clips and pegs, to create a washing line effect.
5. Hang them Outside
People are so used to thinking in terms of paper that they forget how advanced technology is these days. You can get any image you choose printed onto wooden boards for a seaside look, or even metal, which you can hang outside. Even a snow-storm won’t be able to ruin it, and it will make your outdoor space far more personal all year around.
