Prepping for the big game means having the best eats, drinks and screens. It also means having the right mix of party guests, music and fun. Plan your next sports watching party well in advance to make sure it will be one that your guests won’t soon forget.
The Screen
You’re going to need a big screen to enjoy the game. The bigger the better. Some people buy a big screen television right before a big game, and you can often find these tvs on sale during football season. Make sure you have adequate seating so that everyone can watch comfortably.
The Food
You can’t have a great party without great food. Snack foods like wings, pretzels, chips and hot dogs are always a hit. Foot long sandwiches are a crowd favorite and will keep your guests full throughout the game. Find out how many people will be attending and plan ahead to make sure there is enough food to go around. Always plan to have more food than you expect, as some people may eat more than others.
The Drinks
Whether you choose to serve alcohol is up to you. The key is to make sure that there are enough drinks for everyone. Beer is a popular party staple, but soft drinks and mocktails are a fun addition to your party as well. Factor in 2-3 drinks per person, per hour of your party. Let people make their own drinks or designate a “bartender” for the job.
The Decor and Gear
Encourage your guests to come in their favorite team apparel to liven things up even more. Sports jerseys, pendants, hats and tees are festive and lively. You can even find baby NFL gear for the youngest guests. Decorate your home in both team’s colors to make for great photo ops. You can find cutlery and tableware in the corresponding colors to make your party really pop.
Don’t forget the Photos
Your guests will want to take lots of photos to share in the memory of your party. Designate one guest to take pictures of you as well—the host often gets left out of the pictures. Set up a photo booth with fun props and let everyone have a blast, taking photos and sharing them online.
When it comes to planning the best sports viewing party, having great food, a fun atmosphere and good guests is key to having a memorable event.
