I interact with a wide range of bloggers, some are mommy bloggers some call themselves lifestyle bloggers, food bloggers, parent bloggers, and everything in between while others simply state that they are an entrepreneur. It seems that others who have been or are currently in this top blogs circle want to belittle the term Mommy Blogger, why? Who gives a crap what others call themselves, who cares what others are doing?

The latest trend online today between a few top blogs is to degrade one another, put another down for what they enjoy doing, or worse, just being absolutely non supportive to others in the online blogging environment. I don’t understand. There is a big wide space on the internet where all bloggers can get along, define their own success and lead a life they define as happy. Let them do it, without ridicule for choosing this avenue for a job.
Some will go on to say the top blogs invest more cash than they make or have unreal followers because they hosted a giveaway and got people to subscribe in hopes they would win something. Let me tell you what, some of my long time readers here at Happily Blended began by entering a giveaway; yup they subscribed at some point between 2008 to current date to have an entry into a giveaway, but guess what? They return, over and over again. Some of my avid readers are people who happened upon a giveaway and now return to read my positive lifestyle blog. Score!
I cannot comprehend why a select few people think they have the right to tell the top blogs or not-so top blogs how to handle their business, or *gasp* just stop their business altogether. What the heck did that person eat for breakfast that made them feel so self-righteous to tell others how to build their business? I’m appalled.
My advice for you, all of those who are acquaintances or true online/in real life friends who blog, is quite simply: stop letting what others say, judge or ridicule you about stop you from pushing forward in your own definition of success and happiness. Continue doing what you do to be successful, who gives a crap about what others think. If you want to be on the top blogs list and get your blog known, you want to invest money into this as a business? Go do it. The only piece of advice I have to others who want to be one of the top blogs is this:
Be smart about what you invest money into, do your research and make smart business decisions for your business.
That’s all. Keep on being awesome and continue on in your path of entrepreneurship as you learn through mistakes and rise above to the top blogs list!
this is some great information to know. Being on the top blog lists is a goal of mine.
Wouldn’t it be cool to be included in the top blog list! I am doing my best to get there. I just do what I love, follow my passion and turn a deaf ear to detractors and negative people. Hopefully, someday, we’ll both see our blogs in that list!
I don’t really mind top blogs or being in the top blogs list. I just do what I think is great for me and my blog and that’s it. It’s really interesting how people judge websites and come up with a list of what they consider as top blogs. But it’s not something that I am bothered with.
I think people should do what they want. If you want to be on a top blogs list, then great. No one has the right to judge someone else.
Who doesn’t like to be on the top blog list? This is interesting, I’ll have to check it out.
Recently, my wife register in Top Blogs site I wish I knew this before, This is really helpful for those who were newbie.
So many things to learn and strive for in the blogging world. Would be amazing to be at the top, sort of like a Grammy award winner.
That’s cute – a Grammy award winner. Maybe we can start the Blogger Grammy Awards 😉
I don’t give a crap what others think. I just do what I think is best and enjoy blogging.
I agree. That’s the best way to go 🙂 I think that’s why I love blogging so much, I see what others do that may lend me ideas on how I can be creative to make more money but I don’t worry about others in blogging nor real life 😉 Keep on chugging forward!
I found you when I was entering giveaways and I stayed. 🙂 I don’t visit anyone mu h these days since I am working niw, but when I do blog visits, this one is often on my stops. 🙂 And for the record, I do classify myself as a mommy blogger. I like that term. 🙂
Sorry for all those typos. I am on mobile.
No problem – mobile is great for typos! Enjoy your evening and thank you for the comment!
I love when I see your name pop up … I remember when you first started commenting. Sadly, it seems not many bloggers visit like they used to! I notice when some return to comment though, I do hope you are doing great Rosey!
I absolutely love this post! Too many people have a whole lot of judgment to go around and I’ve never understood the competitive nature of bloggers. I have been blogging my entire adult life and when I first started, it was about community, so I’ve stayed true to that throughout the many, many years I’ve been an active member of the blogosphere. I also like that you called attention to readers who found you through a giveaway and then stuck around. I read a wide range of blogs and some of my favorites I found by entering giveaways myself.
It’s always a good thing to be in a top blogs list. Thanks for your tips on getting into better analytics! Very helpful!
We all want to be on the top blog list to get more exposure and opportunities right? And we just have to work hard and invest right to get there 🙂
