Friday night is our Family Friday Night, always no matter what, while my daughter is only with me every other Friday – the boys are always with me on Friday nights. This particular Friday things were worked around so that Miss Ki could spend the night with her brothers and me up in Killington. In celebration of this, I had to make it a special evening. Anyone who knows me knows that I am all about making memories while spending minimal, if any, money.
After the kids and I spent some time walking around the Killington Mountain Resort grounds, we decided that we were hungry. I looked through the phone book in our suite to see if by chance I could find a delivery for pizza. I had not so much luck searching and so I decided that I would take the kids downstairs in the grand hotel to check out Ovations, the restaurant within Killington Resort’s Grand Hotel.
We arrived and the lightening was dim, each table had a candle in the center and there were wine type glasses filled with water. Aj wasn’t too sure about eating in this restaurant, so he wanted to see a menu first. My little man was beyond tired at this point, so it was difficult to get him to be nice and with manners, but I kept on going because he was not going to ruin our family evening out. The wait staff, particularly this Heather girl, was super nice! She gave us a menu, let us review it and she ended up being our server. Heather honestly was a doll about everything, I am very grateful that she was our server!
Each kid, except grumpy little man, made a choice on what to eat. The daughter ordered a cheeseburger, Aj wanted the cheeseburger sliders with buttered corn, and I ordered a buffalo chicken type wrap with steak fries.
The restaurant wasn’t too packed, but slowly did start to have other guests in it. At this point, little man was refusing to do anything proper and was acting amuck. I ordered chicken tenders for little man and a chocolate milk. The older two kids decided they would “live large” and each had a Shirley Temple.
Our food came to the table and was well cooked, the cheeseburger that Miss Ki ordered as medium rare was perfect for her and the buffalo chicken wrap was to die for, I ended up wrapping up half of it to bring up to my room. Little man eventually gave in and drank some chocolate milk and had his tenders eaten up before we checked out.
I loved the quiet, peaceful, low lighting setting at Ovations Restaurant, and their prices were very decent. I love that you could charge your meal to your hotel room or pay with a card, I am sure this may be normal for any restaurant but I am new to this hotel stuff. I definitely say you must eat at Ovations if you are up at Killington Mountain Resort’s Grand Hotel, it really is fabulous!

When kids get over tired, it’s the worst. They can’t help it, but that doesn’t make it any easier.
This sounds like a great restaurant. That food looks fantastic! I wouldn’t mind having a meal there.

That looks so fun! I know it’d wear my little people out, too. Can’t beat those memories.
My kids would really like to have a fancy dining experience while still having kid friendly menu options. Looks like you definitely got the best of both worlds with Ovations.
There is such a sense of relief when a restaurant makes a burger or steak to the right amount of done. This sounds like a great restaurant. I will be sure to go if I ever get that way.
This sounds like a great restaurant. The right wait staff sure can make a difference in your experience!
That chicken wrap looks really delicious. It’s always great to hear of a good restaurant – when you’re traveling, you don’t want to get stuck with terrible food or terrible service! Thanks for sharing about Ovations!
Smart thinking to get the tenders anyway. Glad he ate up. And glad you had a nice time. 🙂
Sounds like you’re enjoying your trip! Hope you had a great meal!
Sounds like a great restaurant. We haven’t gone to a restaurant in ages because our kids are on different schedules, and them being tired and grumpy out to eat is the worst!
