Today I am sharing a free app, Look & Cook, that is found in the app store on iTunes. I was invited to check out this app to share my thoughts with you all and give it some promotion out here in the Internet world. I must say based on the name and description I wasn’t quite sure if this would be the “app for me”, but upon further evaluation I must admit this is a fabulous app. Here’s why…
As a Mom who has been actively seeking new recipes each week to make wholesome, fresh cooked meals for the family, the Look & Cook app brings to me a more visual approach to finding recipes. My daughter and I had fun looking through the pictures shown in Look & Cook to find a cool recipe idea for our next kitchen experience together.
Overall, I must admit I am a visual person and while searching the Internet for recipes based on recipe titles worked, there is something more about having an app like the Look & Cook that fuels your visual desires. With a swipe of your finger you can start to see pictures of meals and if the picture appeals to you simply click a button on the bottom of the screen to bring up the recipe. The recipe is a full list of what ingredients you will need and how to best prepare the meal you saw in the prior screen on Look & Cook.
There are so many categories of recipes to look through that we haven’t even completely gone through all of them but so far my daughter and I are thinking some of the dessert ideas will suit us just fine with Spring and Summer time get togethers. The awesome part of having Look & Cook app on my iPhone is that while I am in the store grocery shopping each week, I can simply bring up the recipe on my iPhone for the list of ingredients to purchase rather than using a piece of paper hoping that I wrote all ingredients down properly. There have been one too many occasions when I wrote a list of ingredients but hadn’t copied the list correctly so came home to unpack groceries only to see I missed something. Look & Cook allows me to be more efficient in ensuring I get the complete list of ingredients and it has opened our eyes as a family to a whole new selection of foods we want to test out.

This sounds like a must-have app! I am so bad at making lists & meal planning, but if I had the recipe with me, it would save me from making a second trip to the store for what I forgot.

That looks like a really neat app and better yet it is Free! I am always looking around for new free apps, I will check this one out.
I really like the visual aspect of the app. Sometimes text directions don’t quite let you know how, how much etc. Being able to see before you try is just what I need.

love apps that make my cooking life easier. cooking is ok but i’d really like someone else to make my meal plans and lists for me!

I love being able to see the ingredients I need on my phone rather than a list. Like you, I tend to mess it up when I make a handwritten list!
you should try laying it all out nice and neat on the table like on the app… you end up getting quite OCD… 😉

I’m a very visual person and I really like to see what a recipe is supposed to look like. First, I want to know if it looks appetizing. Second, I have to have something to go by so that I know whether I made it right or not, haha! I love free apps…heading over to check it out!
