There was and still occasionally is all this drama and negative talk about Mommy bloggers who get products for free and are sitting on their butts all day writing while ignoring their children or doing whatever it is those being negative think Mommy bloggers do. I assume I am a Mommy blogger, don’t really care what I am labeled as honestly. I do know I like to remain positive and try my best not to get caught up in all the new FTC guidelines for bloggers drama stories, other than making sure I am sticking to the rules of the game of blogging when you receive free products or compensation for a review.
I am a blogger, I have been a blogger for almost one year now, exciting! I love writing, writing is my outlet. This blog is how I keep my mind going forward in a positive direction. So many of my friends or family I talk to about blogging get all excited that I received items such as a wireless HP printer, and a FLIP camera, along with many other items free of charge. Some even think they should start a blog to get free stuff.
I tell you, blogging is fun, it is great but if you allow yourself to get into this giveaway and product review area of blogging … you will find yourself overwhelmed at first. Eventually you learn when to say no thank you and allow yourself to stick to a strict editorial guideline or whatever you call how you organize your blog posts. No matter what you do, you will learn to say NO very quickly and as often as necessary after you get your first taste of being a product review blogger.
Do I get cool stuff for free? Yes, do I love the stuff I receive? Yes, would I recommend a product I received for free but hated? NO WAY! You see there is an up side and down side to everything in life, so remember when you see on my blog the following disclosure:
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of <<insert company’s name here>>. I received the product or item being given away mentioned in this review for free and was not paid any money for my opinion. All opinions are 100% mine.
That means I did indeed receive the product referenced for free and I am providing you with my 100% honest, unbiased opinion. If I don’t like an item, I am not going to keep it, and I am not going to endorse it. I would rather send an item back than tell you, my loyal readers, that this is a must have product! No free product can make me sell out to my friends, my family or my blog readers.
Non-Bloggers: What is your idea of a product review blogger? Bloggers: Do you review products on your blog?
Make it a Happy Day!
I too do reviews now and then on my blog and have received stuff for free but I only choose to review products that are beneficial to my family and readers. Most of them are books reviews.
Who wouldn’t like getting free stuff? Of course I love it!
I’m a very upbeat person and I think my blog reflects that. Trying to stretch and find negative things to day about a product is not my personality.
If something looks crappy I don’t agree to review it in the first place.
Example, I know lots of people did reviews for the farting elephant toy. I didn’t want my kids to play with that so I didn’t accept the pitch when it was sent to me. Easily avoided! My kids make enough poop jokes as it is. 🙂

I used to do a lot reviews and giveaways but have slowed down lately… I did enjoy the ones I did before but lately, I’ve been feeling it more like “work” rather than passion, so I’m trying to go back to writing things that I enjoy the most…
