The Niagara Falls region is synonymous with romantic getaways, but families can have just as much fun as couples, and here are the top ten reasons why…
1. Fallsview Indoor Waterpark
As the largest indoor water park and resort in North America, your children will have dozens of pools, water slides, wave machines and more to choose from.
2. Bird Kingdom
If you have any nature lovers in your family, this place is ideal. It’s the largest free-flying aviary in the world, home to a tropical rain forest, a reptile encounter room and even a nocturnal zone.
3. Battle of the Titans
Skylon Tower might be a strange place for a dinosaur exhibit, but the Niagara Falls area doesn’t like to do things by halves! Walk through time and encounter some of the most terrifying and iconic dinosaurs that the prehistoric world ever knew.
4. Daredevil exhibit
The adults will love this exhibit just as much as the kids; learn brave tales and gruesome endings of the many people who have tumbled over the Falls since it was first established as a landmark. You’ll even get to see the props they used!
5. Niagara’s Fury
The daredevil show is located at the IMAX Theatre, which is also where you’ll find our next attraction: Niagara’s Fury. This multi-sensory experience is designed to thrill as well as educate all who attend; with gripping 3D imagery and special effects, this is one not to miss.
6. Mini-golf courses
There are two main miniature golf courses in Clifton Hill. You can either join wizards in their glow-in-the-dark adventure, brand new to the district, or continue your prehistoric quest by battling dinosaurs, in Canada’s largest mini-golf attraction.
7. Hornblower Cruise
This is the most popular attraction in the whole of Niagara, and luckily the departure point is only a short stroll from most Niagara Falls hotels, so there’s no excuse to miss this one. Take a catamaran up Niagara River before feeling the spray of the Falls on your face, and clothes!
8. Whirlpool Aerocar
Now over 100 years old, this attraction will see you take a vintage-style cable car out onto the River, where you’ll be suspended above the ferocious whirlpool below. You’ll learn all about how it was formed, plus you’ll get to take in the beautiful panoramic views.
9. Journey Behind the Falls
Take an elevator down150ft into the rock-face of the Horseshoe Falls, before following a series of twisting tunnels until you reach a platform right behind the huge sheet of water. This is an exciting and nerve-wracking experience for sure.
10. Dufferin Islands Park
Let’s not forget that, first and foremost, Niagara is a spot of unparalleled natural beauty. What could be better than grabbing a picnic and heading out to the stunning Dufferin Islands, where you can soak up the tranquillity and get back to nature?
