I am not sure if you have heard about the story of this 14 year old autistic boy who was the victim of a horrible prank, but I heard about it. I watched as many shared it on Facebook and I just couldn’t. I couldn’t share the video. It was too much to think about, being that I have a son who is autistic and I have seen other kids who are on the spectrum be taken advantage of. You see, autistic children take things for face value, if you ask them to do something or you tell them something, they will believe you. I have noticed my own son, now age 8, being an honesty, loyal and trustworthy friend, he is a compassionate child who cares deeply for all people. I cannot imagine having my own child go through a prank as horrific as this, and I sat here wondering; What can I do? I know I want to help spread awareness of autism on a regular, educate others and lend advice to anyone living with autism. Well today, GiveForward has brought to my attention a way we can help this 14 year old autistic kid, we can show him that love conquers all, there is more love and less hate in this world.
I can only imagine after being a victim of this prank how the family and this boy feel. The boy was told he was taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but the teenagers dumped a bucket of spit, feces and urine on this autistic teenager; not ice water. This is horrific. Sad. I cannot even imagine having this happen to my children and if my teenager ever even thought of doing such a horrible thing to another human being, they would be severely grounded for a very long time and be made to pay it forward in many, many ways to make up for their horrible crime. I am literally left without words about this incident, but I am for sure going to help spread the word about GiveForward’s mission to help show this boy that we have more love and less hate in this world.
The family has a fundraising page setup on GiveForward where they are seeking to raise $5,000 as well as get 1,000 comments on their GiveForward fundraising page. GiveForward has helped many families see how much love there is in this world and they hope you will help them show this family that love conquers all. Previously GiveForward helped a family who was the victim of the fairly recent bombing in Boston, MA and they also have helped many other families who have found their worlds damaged by some hateful people we do have in this world. I will be honest, I think hateful people are simply broken and could benefit from their own more love versus hate in their lives, but right now, today … we are focusing on helping those who are the victims of hateful acts, more specifically let’s show this 14 year old autistic boy and his family that we DO love him and that we DO care. Head over to GiveForward’s Fundraising Page for this boy and leave a comment, donate money if you can and get out there to help spread the word that we will not tolerate hate.
From now on, you no longer have to sit around and wonder what you can do to help victims of any sad situation, you can seek out victims on GiveForward and pay it forward with a comment or some money donated. Whatever you can afford to do; one kind word after another really can build up the self esteem of a child or adult who’s been victim of any hateful act.
We the People will stand up, together, united as one to spread more love and less hate. #Love>Hate
