Are you thinking about working from home? Maybe you have been thrown into a position that requires you work from home regardless of whether you want to or not. Either way I am here to tell you some tips on what you need to think about before you dive into the work at home scene.
First, you must think about the skills you have, and some skills you may need to learn. If you are already familiar with using a computer, accessing the internet and searching the web, then you are in a position to start determining what direction you wish to go. Do you prefer to work as your own boss being an entrepreneur or do you prefer a real job where you report to someone daily from your home office?
There are many options, but the one that would be best, is the one that you would be the most passionate about or makes you the most money. It really depends on the person you are. Personally I enjoy being a blogger and virtual assistant, both bring in some extra money and are something I am passionate about.
Simply search Google for keywords that are associated with the work you desire. Some great keywords to start with are transcription, virtual assistant, secretary, work at home, home business, or data entry. I will forewarn you that working a “job” from home that pays hourly is hard to come by, but they are out there. A home business is super easy to start, but usually require an upfront investment. Starting your own business requires you to know a bit about marketing & networking and will cost some investment money. If you are uncertain where to start promoting your business you can always hire a virtual assistant, there are many out there with a variety of rates.
Once you have made the decision on what direction you wish to go in, simply move forward. Working from home will require dedication, and self motivation, but if you keep a positive attitude and invest money wisely you will be able to succeed in working from home.
At one point, I thought about doing something like that, but Michigan didn’t allow for it, so I kinda gave up. Now that I’ve moved, I haven’t decided if I want to do anything other than my blog. Probably not.
