When I first changed my blog name from Writings of a WAHM to Happily Blended my reasoning was because I wanted to share a variety of topics. I enjoy helping others who work from home or wish to work from home find a way to be successful. I enjoy spreading positive thinking skills or personal stories of my own that show my positive thinking skills so that others may gain insight to how they can handle their life situations in their own positive way. I also love offering giveaways and with giveaways usually comes product reviews.
Do you know what a blogger has to struggle with when it comes to offering such a variety? Keeping it even. Yes it is extremely difficult to ensure you are keeping good, real content on site while still providing giveaways and reviews. I sit here looking at a pile of review items I must get done and some include videos which means when they are finally all completed on my end with pictures and/or videos I then must write the review in WP dashboard and schedule it to post on site in a way that doesn’t consume my blog, but rather adds a bit of extra to my blog.
Adding extra and keeping it even is incredibly hard which is why I have learned to use the word NO when it comes to many reviews and/or giveaways. Many bloggers charge for their giveaway posts regardless of whether they are getting a product to review or not. I do have a fee but have not had to use it as of yet because usually my fee is a sample of the product I am giving away. Take my KIDStrong giveaway I am hosting right now, I am giving away 24 bottles of this product and I received about four bottles, so I don’t always get as much as I am giving away.
The reason I want to include reviews on my blog is because it’s truly a fun family experience for most of the products I receive. We get to test out products, introduce them to the children and see if they are a good fit for our lifestyle. In addition to simply “checking out the products” we actually take the time for pros and cons to see if there are any changes or adjustments we would make to the product. Then I write a review post to share my experience and opinion with the world.
Giveaways are super fun to host because I love hearing back from a winner thanking me for the product once they receive it. I love making people happy and enjoy hearing from people who normally would not be able to purchase this product due to budget constraints but due to my giveaway were able to have that product in their life. It is a good feeling all around and of course giveaways certainly boost my traffic stats on site which in turn makes me a bit more money. Giveaways are certainly a win win situation.
Back to the topic of content though, it seems lately I have been going through so much that I have simply lost sight of how to keep it even and so I am working on ways to ensure you not only get the reviews and giveaways but that you are able to get the content many come to read! Have you seen what I have seen with Happily Blended? The fact that content seems to be few and far between these days? I have seen it and I am upset, but it’s my own fault. My head is now back to writing and I think I have finally lost the writers block I was having!
I can’t wait to share more personal stories, pictures and some advice posts for all of you soon! What are some topics I have covered in the past you would like to hear more about? I welcome your comments so that I may write to my hearts desire and schedule some fantastic content that you will enjoy reading in between my reviews and giveaways!
I love Happily Blended! I think that it is a wicked awesome blog! You are such a sweet friend and if it weren’t for your blog and Wife Swap (explain later) we would never be best friends! I love ya girlie! You keep up the great work! You are an amazing mom to three adorable little kiddos too!
