It’s Fitness Friday and this is my first post!! How exciting! I look forward to sharing with you what my family and I are doing to get fit.
After chatting with @momspective and Jenn at The Coupon Coup on a regular basis through Twitter I knew that one day I wanted to get in on this whole Wii Mommies group, working to support each other in getting fit. About a month ago my family purchased the Wii and in April I purchased the Wii Fit for one of my husband’s birthday gifts. I was so excited I ended up giving it to him early.
The Wii Fit is a fantastic program to use as a way to make getting fit a family affair. My oldest, my middle child, my husband and myself all have our own Mii’s and we enjoy getting getting fit with the Wii Fit. Within my first 8 days of using the Wii Fit I had lost 5.3lbs. This is in addition to changing my eating habits, walking daily and of course chasing two in diapers around all day. My husband has not been so lucky but he continues to use the Wii Fit to help him reach his fitness goals. The children are using the Wii Fit more as a way to encourage daily exercise, not so much to lose weight. As a Mom, I don’t wish to raise children who feel their body image is the most important part of life, but I do wish to instill daily exercise routines as part of their normal day to day living.
We are very excited to be making our fitness routine a family affair, we have our own little support system. The children will cheer Mom and @daddyjustin on while we do our Ski Jumps and my personal favorite the Step Aerobics. While the kids are on doing their favorite Wii Fit exercise, usually the table tilt and hula hoop, we cheer them on and encourage them to have fun while getting fit.
I must admit the Wii Fit is an excellent creation as it combines exercise and fun all in one great game. You can track your daily exercise that you do outside of the Wii Fit such as walking, jogging, doing household chores and more simply by entering it into your activity log each day.
I am looking forward to sharing with you all our Fitness Friday updates going forward. We also recently received a great exercise DVD which will be reviewed on Happily Blended soon as part of our Fitness Friday posts.
