Due to being a work from home mother since 2006, starting with direct sales, moving to blogging then adding social media marketing, I have been able to be more aware of the dangers of being online. My daughter is a tween now and she has wanted to have her own blog for years, I finally allowed her to have a private blog; this will allow her to practice her blogging skills while keeping her out of the lime light that blogging brings. Allowing my tween to have a private blog at such a young age has been a wonderful tool for assisting in online safety. My daughter has learned so much about being safe online because I feel it’s just as important as the sex education and do no do …

Social media is a big deal, many companies are coming on board or already on board with social media because they have realized the impact their engagement with customers has on their business advancement. Customers and prospects enjoy seeing their favorite brands interacting on Facebook and Twitter because it puts a more personal “you care about me” attitude out there. When customers feel cared for, businesses grow tremendously! What happens when you are more of a blogger or a business that doesn’t really sell anything but rather shares knowledge on a specific niche? How is it that you engage people in a unique way to get more Twitter Followers and Facebook Likes? After all being in social media means you have a want and a need to reach your potential …

Here we go, welcome to my world of living with a nine year old daughter who is starting with “all my friends can” or “all my friends do it” type of responses when I say no to having a Facebook profile, a cell phone or walking in town alone just to name a few topics. I really thought that these type of questions would not be coming up until my children were closer to their teen years, but alas children seem to be growing up way too fast these days. When I was in her grade, I focused on reading and school sure I had a slight interest in boys, I think within the next couple of years but I had no clue about sex, social media, the internet, etc. …

When it comes to social media marketing you have to put the old school marketing approach on the back burner, meaning traditional marketing methods do not usually work online with social media marketing. Many businesses have a Facebook Fan page where people can “like” their page and interact with them. Various consumers can visit a business’ Facebook Fan page and “like” them then leave a comment on their wall about how their product changed their life or how their services are amazing. This word of mouth free of cost advertising can truly pay off for a business. There are mutiple pros to having a Facebook Fan Page: Personalized approach to interaction with prospects, customers and clients. Customizable options for a welcome landing page to offer discounts or special news with …

I recently read a blog post from Trisha over at MomDot about a pitch she received from a PR firm which reminded me about something I have been doing lately, making sure I am getting paid or receiving product valuable to me or my readers! I don’t want something I will never use again, but when you first start getting your blog known to PR firms it is normal to want to take on every opportunity for fear they won’t bring on another opportunity. They will pitch again, just kindly let them know why this product doesn’t fit your audience or your lifestyle but to keep you in mind for any future opportunities and they will. Back to my point of this blog post, bloggers don’t hit delete, hit reply! …

When I found out that I won the contest for free tickets to Type-A Parent Conference I was super excited and then it hit me; what will I learn at this conference? Will anyone there really have a similar mindset as me? Will I be able to come out of my “shy at first” shell and network at all? The answer to these questions were most certainly YES! First off, I think just about everyone at Type-A had a common interest; blogging and learning how to move forward with it in a way to either make money or be more productive about blogging. Some are interested in product reviews, some are interested in newsletters or marketing ideas while others are looking into the idea of allowing Dad bloggers into our …
