Last week was great, I started eating Frosted Shredded Wheats every morning, a nice bowl of cereal with my sons, covered in milk. I thought the frosted shredded wheats were allowing my body to get the fiber it needed, so I was becoming more “regular”, haha, little did I Know that the milk in the cereal was upsetting my stomach to the point of keel over pain. It was horrible.
I am at work, sitting in the office and I am in major pain. I cannot handle it. The pain is nearly putting me in tears, why? Is it because of more fiber? Is it because I had been eating breakfast, not a norm for me? What was going on?
I discussed this with my coworker and we questioned the milk. I googled it and found out that most of my symptoms were just that – an allergic reaction to milk. I thought I couldn’t be allergic or sensitive to milk because I can eat cheese and yogurt just fine, sure I have a bit of a sensitivity to eggs just like milk, but what the heck is in milk that isn’t in the other items?
Sure enough, I started researching symptoms and found out that you can have a food allergy to milk without being lactose intolerant. That is me. Of course. I am turning 34 this year and I swear when I turned 30 nearly four years ago, I started having such various symptoms to foods I had always loved. Getting older sucks. If you think you are allergic to milk to, feel free to read this website about Milk Allergy to learn more. I was having bowel symptoms, cramping stomach, and much more going on just from having a little bit of milk in my cereal each morning. What a bummer of a realization, but thank goodness the reaction wasn’t worse!
Are you allergic to anything? How do you manage?
