I too agree that many people are using " too busy" as a lame excuse of breaking up friendships/staying away from family and just not keeping the connection that are needed to build and maintain a family(extended also).

I completely agree. When I was growing up I had a strong desire to be close to all of my family members. I just thought that was what family was for! But with each year, members of my family grew farther and farther apart. I did my best to write letters/emails, send them pictures, and arrange get togethers but after awhile when you feel you are the only one who cares you just give up. Now I hardly talk to extended family and nobody ever visits me that's for sure! When I do see a relative they act like Logan (my 19.5 month old) should automatically feel comfortable with them. . .but if family acts like strangers then how can someone complain? I definitely feel people are too wrapped up in their own lives now, it's a very selfish society and so, sadly, the younger generations are not going to have the same mindset about family as generations past. Family should be like a community but in reality it's often like an isolated loner.

Thanks for the comment on my post last week with my son on Santa's lap, haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one :)
