I was using a WordPress plugin called “Thank Me Later”. This plugin is amazing! Basically the plugin allows you to send a thank you message to those who leave a new comment on your blog or always send a thank you message whenever someone leaves a comment on your blog.
Why I Used Thank Me Later
I chose the Thank Me Later plugin after seeing others use it on their blogs. It seemed really cool and of course I have to try out any plugin I think is “cool”. This was a way for me to keep up with my many new commenters in a way that let’s them know I appreciate their comments. This plugin seemed perfect for a person who loves their readers but didn’t know how to say thank you to them each time a comment was placed.
Why I Deactivated Thank Me Later
I recently decided to stop using Thank Me Later. The reason had nothing to do with the actual plugin, because all in all it’s a wonderful creation. My personal feelings have become that I love personally writing to my commenters, in fact I do it often. If these readers are getting a personal thanks for stopping by message from me already why do I need an automated message that isn’t as personal and is basically a robot version of me? The answer is simple, I didn’t need it and it is not who I am.
I am a very social bug, I enjoy meeting new people, reading new blogs and talking to everyone online I can. This may be due to the lack of adult interaction I have on a daily basis or just because I love people (and blogs). Whatever the reasons are, the fact is I love interacting with my peers online and if I am automating the conversation process, well quite frankly it’s not conversation now is it?
So I will no longer be using Thank Me Later I will be personally thanking each and every person for their comment because that is who I am and that is what I prefer to do. This certainly creates more work for me in the long run, but the work is worth if I made someone smile! It’s all about spreading happiness!
