Our Trip to Hampton Beach State Park, New Hampshire

I haven’t been to the Hampton Beach State Park in New Hampshire since my teen years, and even then I don’t recall actually stopping, getting out and enjoying the place. Recently I decided that would be a fun day trip to do with the kids, what made the trip even more fun was that my daughter took along her bestie and we also brought my sister as well as my baby niece with us. There was my Town & Country packed full with five kids and two adults headed to make the over hour drive to Hampton Beach State Park.

After spending hours trying to find a parking spot near the Sand Sculptures and main beach area of Hampton Beach, we decided to drive further down and let the kids jump the waves, swim in the ocean and play in an area that didn’t have lifeguards but had open parking spaces. Sadly, I didn’t plan for parking meters appropriately so I only had enough quarters so we could swim at this end of Hampton Beach for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I feel that was really plenty of time, though, to be honest.

The four big kids had such a fun time out in the ocean, little man was dancing in the waves, Aj was smiling and laughing, the two big girls were floating around enjoying the cold water from the Atlantic Ocean. This was so worth it after our couple hour drive that it took us, then more hours trying to find parking. This view made that drive and time in the van well worth it.

I loved watching my oldest laugh and let loose in the ocean waves, she really is an over achiever during the school year, so I try to ensure she enjoys her Summer time during her childhood years! I love seeing the smile on Aj’s face here as the wave came rolling in crashing upon the kids.

After using up our meter pay, we hopped back into the van and got the kids all ready to travel back towards the main stretch of Hampton Beach State Park. After all, one of the things we really came to see was the huge sand sculptures from the competition that had just happened the week prior. Since it was later on in the day, we found a spot quickly and proceeded to head to the beach.

The sand sculptures were amazing, I must admit Olaf was my favorite. I just love Olaf from the movie Frozen. The kids loved how large the sculptures were and had a blast taking pictures and walking around looking at all of the scuptures

Next up, we had to feed the tribe, while I did bring some PB&J sandwiches and sis brought some snacks too, we still needed to feed the tribe something. I bought one large pizza from a place on the strip of Hampton Beach State Park and we all enjoyed one decent size of cheese pizza as well as some drinks. This is the crew sitting down to eat at one of the stage areas on the Hampton Beach Strip.

After lunch, we decided to head over to the Blue Ocean Discovery Center that is located at Hampton Beach State Park; they share with you information about the ocean animals and work to help keep our ocean animals safe. With their hands on touch tank, the kids had a blast! This place did cost $1 per person, except Livy my niece was free since she is under age 2.

This was such fun, watching the kids hang onto starfish and crabs. I loved listening to the nice ladies who worked there explain things and my children watched, listening along learning so much from them.

This was certainly a great day trip, while we did learn a few things from the trip on how we can make another trip better, we all enjoyed ourselves fully. I think the kids didn’t end up asleep til closer to midnight that night, but to watch how happy they were and the fact that this was a first time experience of the ocean for my baby nice — made this day priceless!

What Does a Person on State Assistance Look Like?

There was a recent blog post spreading around Facebook about Food Stamps and that is what encouraged me to write this blog post. The post was about how judged a woman felt about using food stamps, because the man behind her uttered something negative about her using food stamps to pay for her groceries. It really is so sad that there are many entitled, judgmental people in this world that they think they can judge someone on a simple first glance of that person. I don’t think any of us  owe an explanation to anyone about our life nor our finances. All too often people feel entitled to know what you make, how much you work, what type of lifestyle you lead, what foods you choose to eat or feed your kids. We are in this world where we constantly feel judged and get reprimanded for not living in a way that others choose to or are able to live.

No two people have the same past, so therefore no two people will have the same present. Stop placing judgement and saying cruel things to other human beings. Just stop!

I ask you all this, just exactly what does someone on state assistance, such as food stamps, look like? They look like you and me, they look like the person on the side of the road homeless, they look like your child and my child. They look like HUMAN BEINGS. There is no definition for a person who receives assistance; there was a time in my life when I found myself as a single mom with a baby and guess what? I had to use food stamps. I have had to use state assistance for it’s purpose in the past and guess what? I look just like you or you or YOU.

What does someone on State Aide look like?

I am so sick of some bad apples who abuse a system making us all pre-judge someone without any history or knowledge of who they are as a person. Sure, the person you saw just used food stamps to buy food but they are driving, what you call, a nice car. Sure, someone just used aide to pay for their child’s healthcare, well do you use the Government Healthcare System? Then I guess you are on aide as well. Just stop with the “I am better than you mentality” people. WE are all human freaking beings and WE ALL deserve respect. There is no need to frown upon another human being for needing help.

Because a man or woman treated you badly in a relationship, do you shun and mutter cruel words about that gender each time you come into passing of that gender? I hope not. You cannot make everyone pay for a bad experience, ever. There are bad people, but there are a hell of a lot of good people too, just open your eyes and heart!

At some point in time in our life, everyone will need a hand up. A shoulder to cry on. A person to boost them. A bit of financial aid to get back on their feet. God forbid you, man who judged that woman on food stamps, ever need a helping hand. I pray to God you never do need to put aside your pride and get help, because it’s not easy for the majority of our world to get assistance due to people like you. Our pride gets in the way of our own self, because of people like you. We don’t want you looking down upon us, we don’t want you to treat us differently because God forbid we needed to use a form of state aide to get back on our feet.

Shame on you who thinks it’s okay to shun someone for the type of assistance they need. I know a lot of people who get state aide, and quite frankly it’s none of my business if they get that aide. I will be honest with you, 99.9% of the people I know who are on aide actually worked most of their lives and paid into that system, so why can’t they use some of those funds as a means to get back on their feet?

Next time you want to utter a cruel and mean word under your breath, remember people who use assistance are just like you and me, they are your children, your grandchildren, your elders, they are people and these people have feelings!

Living Life to the Fullest

It isn’t easy living life to the fullest, each day a new issue, challenge, thought comes about that can make you question everything you have in your life. I have been reading a lot of articles, late at night, while the kids are asleep. I have found inspiration and strength in prayer as well. I thrive to live life to the fullest, it’s my mission. To me, if I live life to the fullest and take reasonable risks, learn from mistakes and move on, my kids learn how to do this too. While I don’t like making too many drastic mistakes, it is up to me to define what drastic really is. I am the only one who knows myself, knows my children and knows what’s best for us all.

One way to learn to live life to the fullest of our ability is to ensure that you are not allowing others to make you feel negatively. As long as you are honest with your own self and others, then you need to stand firm in that. Life isn’t always easy, people do get hurt, you will get hurt, but you can’t dwell on those emotions for too long or else it will absorb you and in turn you wake up unable to look in the mirror at your own face. Do not let life ever get you to that point of inability to recognize yourself. That’s a bad place to be. It’s no good for you, it’s no good for anyone else around you.

One thing I have learned about life, is that you just have to do what’s best for you. Stop explaining and don’t fear what others may say or not understand. The best people in your life will support you, even if they disagree with you. Those are the type of people to keep yourself around, not people who just support you blindly, but those who are willing to cite their view on things while still supporting you.

Living life to the fullest involves; surrounding yourself with supportive people, never living in a way that makes you feel cowardly, and pushing forward once you realize what direction to go!
