The Christmas Rush and The Pug Wonders ….

It’s that time of year, my kids have 12 total days off without school. This past weekend the kids were off with their other parent and it was time for Lee and I to get wrapping.

Christmas Labels

We were busy ensuring we had Moms, Sisters, Nieces and the Dad covered this holiday season and had to deliver gifts before Monday came.

Prep for Christmas

My mom’s and sisters and nieces gifts were all wrapped up and ready to deliver. So we hopped on in our van and went off delivering gifts through the evening last night.

Pug naughty or nice

Jenny the Pug wasn’t quite sure if she was naughty or nice this year so she sat watching us thinking about Santa and wondering… will she get a Christmas gift this year from Santa?!

What do you all think; will Jenny the Pug get a gift from Santa Claus this year?

The Home of Christmas Spirit in Cornish, NH #NH #christmas #events

Each year the children and I head to Cornish, NH to a place I call The Home of Christmas Spirit. Each year we normally go and see Mr & Mrs Claus there. This year, we sadly missed them … apparently they are only there on Saturday and Sunday evenings; we went on a Friday evening this year.

The Home of Christmas Spirit in NH

This is a completely free light display and event in Cornish, NH. A local couple is all dressed up for the children to enjoy the Christmas Spirit. You drive up a long stretch of dirt road to what seems like the middle of no where. All of a sudden you see signs “Watch for Mrs Claus and Elves dancing”, “Reindeer Crossing” and other fun signs to engage the guests traveling along this long dirt road to get to the Home of Christmas Spirit.

Then you come around a corner to a terrific display of lights with Christmas music playing over the speakers. People everywhere, children everywhere. Smiles, laughter and just joy.

Children enjoying Christmas Lights

My  middle son was the most smart of the bunch, he wore his boots, winter coat and Ski Pants. To the far right in the above picture you can see my daughter in her Pajama Pants, no joke.

You simply pull into the parking lot, get out and walk around to get a warm fuzzy of Christmas Spirit. It’s a wonderful place and I truly leave with a huge smile on my face and a warm heart. They take donations so we always try to bring some change that we have laying around to do our part to assist in keeping this magic alive for years to come.

The picture above is at an area in this location where you can take a picture in various wooden Christmas images, Aj wanted to be Santa it seems and let me tell you all what, to see this child smile this big makes my heart melt. My son, Aj, is going through some difficult times with his mood disorder so when something like The Home of Christmas Spirit can lift his spirits for a period of time; that my friends is something worth keeping the family tradition going at this home in Cornish, NH.

Another note about this lovely place, your children or even the adults, can leave a letter with a return address in Santa’s mailbox here; after Christmas Santa and Mrs Claus actually sit down and hand write a letter back to everyone who dropped a letter in that special mailbox. It’s another part of our family tradition when we go to The Home of Christmas Spirit. The children anxiously await hearing back from Santa after the holiday has passed!

There is no website, that I can find, for this family’s home. All I can say is that this is a great, heart warming holiday season tradition for us that we shared with our new additions to the family this season; my boyfriend and his children.

So if you are ever in the area of Cornish, NH … think about taking a back road and see where it leads you to, you may just be surprised!

New Hampshire Motor Speedway Gift of Lights #giftoflights #NH

The family packed up the van and headed out to enjoy The Gift of Lights at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway a few weekends ago. I was so happy when a friend posted pictures from when she visited in past years The Gift of Lights in Texas. Never had I heard of The Gift of Lights being in New Hampshire, so once I saw that it was, we knew we had to take our children there.

We all love Christmas Lights so much and this Gift of Lights event is happening through January 5, 2014. There’s still time to go check out the Gift of Lights, only $20 per car.

You drive along looking at all of the spectacular lights and even go through the super cute, Tunnel of Lights. After you are done checking out the Gift of Lights, the kids can get their picture taken with Santa. Purchase a picture for $5 or take one of your own. I love that they let you have the option to take your own picture, but we paid the $5 to have the photo printed by the staff there.

It was just our daughters who chose to have their pictures taken with Santa; the boys were all set on the idea. Once done with Santa, we headed outside to go have free smores (Sponsored by Hannafords) …

Parents You Should Check This Out! The Christmas Registry #parents #christmas

I was introduced to a new website called The Christmas Registry and wanted to share a bit about it with you because it is that time of year; the time in which children are making those wish lists and their eyes are bright ready for that big red suit man to come down the chimney leaving surprise gifts for Christmas morning.

Let’s get started, of course you can watch the video tutorial on TheChristmasRegistry.com but I want to share my experiences and details with you personally. A grown up must created a username and password for children to log in for starters. Once you have created a login for your child they can enter the details and enter the North Pole area. The North Pole has three options; The Activity Center, The Wish List Center and The North Pole Post Office. In this same screen your child can check their naughty/nice level. I love the idea of having a naughty/nice level, this is the easiest time of year to encourage my children to be nice rather than naughty. While, as a parent, I encourage giving and being nice all year round it seems that big red suit man seems to be more of an incentive to get the children to think twice before reacting. Maybe I should start wearing a big red suit?

The Christmas Registry Grown Up page

The Activity Center

Here you can learn to make crafts, play games and even see recipe ideas all geared towards the holiday season. The craft ideas are so cute and something that all three of my children would love to make together. Each weekend when we have my three kids and the boyfriend’s two kids here, we try to find crafts to do together. I think The Christmas Registry is really going to help us out on the next weekend all of the kids are here. Moving on from crafts, my middle child is a big gamer and he would love the choices of games offered in the activity center on this website! I would have fun watching him race Santa and partake in the other game options available. Last but not least, check out the recipes from Mrs Claus, I know my daughter and my boyfriend’s daughter enjoy baking together in the kitchen so this would be their one stop spot on a weekend when they get bored.

The Wish List Center

Here your child can explore 22 different toy categories or search directly for their favorite toy. As your child goes through all of the toys they can click the “add to wish list” button which in turn will add that toy to their Christmas wish list. Your child can send their wish list to Santa.

North Pole Post Office and Naughty/Nice Meter

Your child can check into the naughty/nice meter from time to time and see what Santa thinks of their behavior this holiday season. Next they can actually send a letter directly to Santa in the North Pole post office center. Santa will even write your child back!

This is a free to join site, but a grown up  must set up their child’s account.

As with most sites geared towards children, you want to ensure that your child is safe utilizing a website like this, that is where I share the note from one of the creators of the site;

We have gone to great lengths to make this site safe for children. We only gather the bare minimum of information from the child and grown-up users. Furthermore, we’ve designed the site in a manner that puts the grown-up in complete control of the child log-ins. We pull a feed from Amazon.com for the toys & books that we display in the wish list section on the child side of the site (We have approximately 60,000 Items). If you’ve ever gone to Amazon and looked in the toy section (example: Fantasy Figures) you’ll notice that there are a lot of toys that are not for children. We’ve made extensive efforts to filter out all those inappropriate items. As a parent of two children I value all these efforts and I hope that the users of the site will as well.

What are you waiting for? Get on over to The Christmas Registry today and sign up your child or children {you can have more than one child under your grown up account}, watch as they have a blast surfing around the site, playing games, checking how nice they have been or even looking at crafts they want to do with you as a family! It’s free to join so there’s no risk just to give it a whirl.

If you try this site please leave a comment below telling me what your child and you thought of it! The owners would love to hear feedback!

The Fairy Hobmother has Visited Me

Fairy_hobmother_for_bloggersI am not talking about the tooth fairy that visited last night scrounging up change to place in my daughter’s tooth fairy box in exchange for her lost molar, no. I am talking about another amazing fairy, this is the Fairy Hobmother who visits blogs to sprinkle gifts to use for just spreading the belief in fairies.

Heck if I can believe in the tooth fairy at 31 years of age, I suppose a Fairy Hobmother is not that far fetched to believe in. So today I write about being visited by the Fairy Hobmother in hopes that I get sprinkled a little gift and other bloggers do too.

If you leave a comment on this blog post, as a blogger, you just may receive a visit too!

Most of you may or may not know, I will be moving from where I live now at some point here, after a year and a half of renting from my Mom the time has come for her to move back to this area with her husband and me to move on with my kids to our new “home”. I thank Mom for allowing me to stay here, while I paid for her mortgage as a way to assist me in getting back on my feet from a foreclosure. I think I have grown close to my Mom during this past year and a half and that is something I can walk away with being grateful for, among other things.

As I search around for a new rental one of the things that I really need to know is if there is a washer and dryer hook up at the new rental. I have three kids and let me tell you what, I certainly wish this Fairy Hobmother could not only sprinkle me with gifts, but make laundry magically disappear into dresser drawers too ;-)

When I move, I will need to purchase a cheap tumble dryer as a way to ensure my laundry never goes undone, piled to the ceilings in my new home.  Of course, if I don’t get a dryer or washer for my new rental home, I will just have to be a frequent visitor at the local laundry mat.

Now that I have sprinkled the love of the Fairy Hobmother to you all, I hope you will believe in fairies again and leave me a comment below telling me something that you wish a Fairy Hobmother would do for you!
