Parenting Autism

I tell you it is a relief to have a diagnosis that fits for my eight year old son, but it doesn’t make parenting any easier. Having a special needs child, that doesn’t need special education isn’t easy. Also, having a disability that isn’t really a physical disability, is difficult as a parent. More often than not, I find myself making excuses for my son, really it’s not excuses, it’s honesty. You see, there is a wide range of uneducated people in our society who have not a clue about disabilities that are invisible to the naked eye. As a […]

Miss Livy Spends Most of a Day with her Auny

Yes, I spelled that correctly, Auny. The name that my niece Livy has given me is Auny, not Auntie, not Tee Tee as she had once started to say. I am now Auny. And I love it! One day I got a chance to take Livy for most of an afternoon back to my home so that her Mommy (my sister) could catch a break to clean house, relax and get whatever done she wanted to get done. Honestly, she should just sleep when she gets that time, but she had stuff to do and so I was very happy […]

Where Did We Spend Our Mother Daughter Day?

We recently were able to have a Mother Daughter day during February vacation. This was a planned event because my ex husband contacted me stating he had vacation time to use, he wanted to use it to take our sons an extra overnight during the vacation. I was so happy, because I only get a break from my sons for two days every other week during the school year, during Summers they see their Dad twice a week for a few days alongside their every other weekend visits. School years are long, and it’s sad the boys can’t see their […]

Mom, I want to Learn To Cook your Recipes #happilyblended #cooking

The other night my daughter returned from her two night visit with her Dad when I was tossing around dinner ideas to the family. My daughter decided that, while she loves my odd chicken parmesan I make, she really wanted my breaded garlic chicken breast instead. From there we went talking about how she wants to learn the recipes for meals I create because she enjoys the things I make. It’s funny that she, at age 11, is so interested in cooking and quite honestly she bakes a heck of a lot better than I do. If there is a […]

Three Sisters By Susan Mallery Book Club Tour

Three Sisters by Susan Mallery is a great read that shares lessons in learning who you are. Sometimes we must let go in order to move forward and heal in life.
