Miss Livy Spends Most of a Day with her Auny

Yes, I spelled that correctly, Auny. The name that my niece Livy has given me is Auny, not Auntie, not Tee Tee as she had once started to say. I am now Auny. And I love it!

One day I got a chance to take Livy for most of an afternoon back to my home so that her Mommy (my sister) could catch a break to clean house, relax and get whatever done she wanted to get done. Honestly, she should just sleep when she gets that time, but she had stuff to do and so I was very happy to test out taking Livy for a bit.

Babysitting Livy my Niece

I picked up Livy and went to get my daughter from her visit with her Dad. I then traveled home with Livy and my daughter before my son’s were coming home from their Dads. It was so adorable watching Livy spend quality time with her Auny and cousins. Livy is now about a year and a half, time has flown so quickly. Come January she will be two years old!

Jenny the Pug has finally learned to be calm around Livy, they spent some time hanging out a bit as shown above. Jenny loved following Livy around and giving her puppy kisses. Simply precious.

I love the photo of Ki with Livy next to her arm in arm. We really have a strong family bond around here and so happy Livy takes to that big time too! That was a fun day, and the separation anxiety my niece has, left her within moments of her waving buh bye to her Mommy. I remember those days of my baby crying until I was out of sight, then they were fine. Thankfully  my sis knows Livy is in great hands with someone she feels safe with and who adores and loves her to pieces so it is easier for my sis to allow Livy time with me. I must admit, I am so in love with being an Auny!!!!

Livy is a true miracle baby and a blessing to have in our world.

Spending Time Being Relaxed with Children

I am all about spending time with my kids. I think it’s important for every parent to get down to your child’s level and just be one in the same with them. I am not talking about playing necessarily, even just sitting back on the couch with the kids letting them ramble nonsense and you ramble nonsense back if there is a pause in between your child’s ramblings. This is a great way to teach your child how to communicate too. In case you haven’t already realized, I am that tricky parent, I am all about everything I do with my kids from fun time to not so fun time, teaches some skill or life lesson that is going to be necessary for them to learn before adulthood.

That is my job as a parent – to prepare my children for adulthood but to also encourage a love of childhood.

Parenting your Child

My youngest son really does just enjoy it when he has full center stage attention. Little man enjoys being the spotlight of our family and we let him have it from time to time. Shown above, Little Man was chatting forever to me about his school day, about his toys, about stuff I couldn’t understand and so on. It was great! I had a smile upon my face and he was happy to just have his Mama’s attention for that short period of time. That evening was a great evening, he was well behaved.

I have noticed a trend in parenthood – if you give positive attention and focus on positive attention, you get positive children & behavior.

Daughter following me

My daughter isn’t always as easy to read because the older she gets the more complicated she can be. She is a girl and with that comes the complication of our hormones. Fun years I tell ya! I have noticed that even my tween daughter isn’t much different thatn her youngest brother; she thrives on having Mama’s undivided attention and while she doesn’t enjoy being the spotlight with a full audience, she does enjoy that one on one attention. We may often be found in the kitchen and as of late, she has started doing the dishes to help her Mama out.

In parenthood – if you show the children that they are important to you, they will learn to appreciate the value of people who are there for you.

Loving the Doggy

That little man of mine enjoys bugging our dog often, he honestly wishes for a kitty. I think once he’s old enough to clean a litter box then maybe he can have a kitty. Haha! For now, we have our Pug and we love her dearly. One thing I have learned is that a pet in the house such as a cat or dog, really does help calm children.

The simple act of petting a cat or dog can calm any child, because during that moment of petting or talking to an animal you are completely relaxed of all thoughts.

So there you have it, I firmly believe spending quality time with your children, even if just 10 minutes a day, will be the difference between having a bond and not having a bond the length of your child’s life!

When we adopted Jenny the Pug a couple of years back, we found out that her teeth were not taken care of very well. Right now it’s a choice of keeping up the best we can with her teeth because dental hygiene is important for your pets. Luckily, Jenny’s teeth issues are not anything negatively affecting her health and we have been lucky to find products like these to assist in dental upkeep. This is why when I was pitched to test out Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™, I said YES PLEASE.

Milk-Bone Brushing Chew (5)

These boxes for storage of the Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™ are perfect, you can buy them in these boxes based on what size dog you have, for us we have received both options of the mini and the small/medium sizes. Jenny is more under the mini sized because she weighs about 17lbs.  I love that the bags inside of these boxes pictured above have a Velcro closure rather than any other options I have seen with various dog treats in the past, I am resting easy knowing that the Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™ are staying fresh in the box.

Milk-Bone Brushing Chew (2)

Jenny the Pug will sit for any treat, usually. Shown above she is not-so-patiently seated and waiting for me to release her the Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™, which I did. I just had to tease her for a moment with a treat to picture for you all what she looks like when she is ready for her yummies! Jenny quickly grabbed the treat as soon as I let her know she could and away she ran into her human sisters bedroom to munch on her Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™.

The Christmas Rush and The Pug Wonders ….

It’s that time of year, my kids have 12 total days off without school. This past weekend the kids were off with their other parent and it was time for Lee and I to get wrapping.

Christmas Labels

We were busy ensuring we had Moms, Sisters, Nieces and the Dad covered this holiday season and had to deliver gifts before Monday came.

Prep for Christmas

My mom’s and sisters and nieces gifts were all wrapped up and ready to deliver. So we hopped on in our van and went off delivering gifts through the evening last night.

Pug naughty or nice

Jenny the Pug wasn’t quite sure if she was naughty or nice this year so she sat watching us thinking about Santa and wondering… will she get a Christmas gift this year from Santa?!

What do you all think; will Jenny the Pug get a gift from Santa Claus this year?

One Day Wasted

Woke up with no internet. It was fun. That was yesterday. Went all day without internet because when they finally turned it back on  .. they did what they always do FORGOT TO REFRESH THE MODEM.

The Good Life

I sat with nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs, lay with Jenny the Pug and attempt to work best I could from my iPhone. Sure I could have written some content in Word but when my brain is so annoyed at no internet, it doesn’t write very well.

So I laid in bed. All day. Why? Because that was the best option to recoup from me being overwhelmed with work, life, kids and the changes in seasons.

Have I told you that all the world needs is a little bit more common sense and common courtesy before? Well if I have, I am saying it again. Why do some people just have to be the types who create their own drama and their own downfalls yet blame it on others?

I cannot understand that mindset. When I fall down it’s my fault. When I screw something up, it’s my fault. I do not blame others for my own actions in this world and really, if we had a lot more of that attitude in this world … then we would have a heck of a lot more peace.

Maybe it’s not if we try to change others that our world would have more peace, maybe it’s like one of my Twitter friends stated in prior conversations, if we should just remove miserable people out of our lives and allow them to enjoy their own misery. Basically, we accept how other people live and let it be … unless it’s personally affecting you and you cannot remove the person from your life. There are some people who can’t be fully removed, you just have to have better coping skills and an absolutely positive mindset to keep moving forward, marching to your own happy beat.

I firmly believe that there is good within all people. They just have to find it within their hearts. To find happiness and good within you … you have to find your happy place. It takes practice, time and dedication but once you find that happy within, you will feel such a weight lifted and not be able to help but smile every single day.

That’s all… happy Friday! I have kids this weekend so I shall be doing the Mom thing but Monday ….. awwww Monday, I shall return to work full force!

Cheers to the weekend my friends! Spread happiness, good thoughts and joy to all who pass you this weekend!
