I am flat out totally 100% beyond thrilled to be taking my kiddos to Water Country in Portsmouth, NH this Summer 2014. Words cannot begin to express how awesome this experience is for us, I have looked into Water Country in the past and it’s on a bucket list as a go-to place for my family some day. Just so happens that this is our year to check off that go-to place on our bucket list!

When I was about 13 years old or so, I went to Water Country and had a blast. I am so looking forward to experiencing their Summer 2014 season this June or July. Our date of visit isn’t quite set in stone yet, but I just had to share with you our excitement to be a part of this wonderful opportunity as a blogger family. To showcase our excitement and to show you things you can enjoy at Water Country, I am writing this post …. NH Family Plans Trip to Water Country

This year is a special year to visit Water Country, after all they are celebrating their 30th birthday! This is going to be so much fun! I looked at the Water Country website for some events, for we don’t have our date set in stone and I want to ensure I give the kids an experience of a lifetime while we are there.

This year, a list of Events happening at Water Country are:

  • Every Thursday in July (starting July 3rd) through August 24th there is a DJ series party to celebrate!
  • Radio Disney Crew will be there for you to dance and play along with their “Have Some Fun” tour on June 25th at 12pm.
  • August 9th from 11-2pm you can meet SpongeBob and have your picture taken with him.

There are so many cool family friendly events to be a part of this season, aren’t you excited? Not yet? Okay, well then, let’s share some more ideas of what I want to experience at Water Country with my family this 2014 Summer Season …

Let’s see, a list of attractions I hope to check out on our day trip are:

  • Double Dive Boggan – the parks only head first slide, two lanes are there side by side to race someone if you wish!
  • Adventure River – this looks like what some would call a lazy river at most water parks, this is 1/4 mile long river.
  • Whirlpool - relax in this pool while the current moves you around a bit.
  • Wave Pool -  New England’s largest wave pool containing 700,000 gallons of water, catch the huge waves and have some fun!
  • Bubble Bay – this is a kiddie attraction where your kids can play around and it features spraying geysers and bubbling water
  • Ollie Octopus – this is a kiddie attraction where your kids can climb Ollie and slide off his tentacles.

The list can go on forever, honesty, you can find me most days singing “water country, water country, water country … have some fun” because my kids and are, mostly my oldest, are super excited to have this experience. I wish your family to be able to have this experience too, having been there as a teen myself, I can tell you it was a blast!

Staying Cool, Calm and Headache Free This Summer and a Fun Giveaway

The month is June, the time is near Summer and with that comes the wonderful school break season. The kids will all be home from school wanting Mama to keep them occupied, entertained and well fed. You know the season, one in which can be total chaos of having children who thrived on the demands school requested of them all school year into the season of a carefree Summer being home with  Mama full time. With this time of year comes headaches, not only induced by the dilemma of keeping kids occupied, on a schedule and well fed but the heat. The Summer heat can be quite exhausting in itself leaving a Mom with a headache the size of an over sized pizza pie or larger.

Are you familiar with the Summer time headaches? I wonder if you can feel the pain about to come this Summer?

Your Summer doesn’t have to be full of headaches and juggling the children to find how to properly entertain them in a way the school system can. You can have relief and with that comes some ideas I put together to avoid headache-ville in combination with some tips from Kathy Kaehler, Fitness Expert:

  • Avoid Dehydration – Keep your skin moisturized with a lotion, I personally do this each day after shaving my legs. Keep your body up with fluids that actually work with your body to hydrate it as opposed to beverages such as caffeine, soda and alcohol.
  • Have  a Flexible Workout Routine – Daily exercise increases your happiness, seriously, it does. Those little hormones inside of your mind that work to keep your happy, are what increase when you exercise. During hot Summer months try to move your exercise routine around during the cooler parts of the day, such as in the morning.
  • Create a Poster Board with Daily Schedule – Both parents and children can thrive on having a routine set forth for the Summer. Create a simple poster board that outlines the times each day that meals and snack will be served as well as other outings so that you can avoid the Summer headaches from antsy children.
  • Avoid Light - Sunshine shining down is a great feeling, but too much of it can create a headache stemming from your eyes adjusting to such light. I prefer to wear sunglasses all year round but if you do not wear them all year round, be sure to wear sunglasses and/or a baseball cap or visor to help avoid eye contact with the sun and to keep your body cooler.
  • Sometimes Headache Medicine Is just What you Need – I can’t always avoid my headaches, especially during the summer; so when I get one, I take Excedrin® Extra Strength to help get me get back on track.

 Did you Know that ….

  • Excedrin® is a trusted brand with more than 50 years’ experience providing effective headache relief.
  • Excedrin® Extra Strength is a combination pain reliever – acetaminophen/aspirin/caffeine – that provides temporary relief of headaches.  Use only as directed.

We Are Having a Baby

Did that get your attention? No, I am not having a baby, we are having a baby; my sister & her husband that is.

That right there is a little peanut, that is a true miracle. Here is some of the back story; my sister was told at a young age that she had a super, ridiculously low chance of getting pregnant, ever. This basically meant, she would not expect to have children. I blame the Depo shot but whatever, that’s not the debate we are having today because she is pregnant and she is having a baby, a baby GIRL to be exact!

Here are the two expectant parents now, pictured above this past December at their apartment near Christmas time. Having been together about three years or more now, they recently were wed at a small but beautiful ceremony in Vermont at our family farm in June.  I love them dearly, they are a huge part of the kids and my life. We spend a lot of time together enjoying and annoying each other.

Lately my sister has been an emotional roller coaster,  of course it’s due to those pregnancy hormones, but it’s funny because this is a girl who never cries and now she cries about everything. I am so happy for her and Al and can’t wait to welcome that little bundle of joy into the world. I can’t wait to be an auntie to this sweet baby girl!

Since I am so excited I decided to celebrate, I will be hosting a virtual baby shower for the expecting couple and so if you are reading this and you are a brand offering awesome baby products please feel free to contact me to see how you can have your product(s) featured during the amazing baby shower event right on site here at HappilyBlended.com!
