What To do on Spring Break – Day 2

This was Saturday, which was technically the first day of Spring Break, but I am counting it as Day 2. The kids had a blast playing up in the woods and outside on this fine Saturday before Easter Sunday.

What to do on Spring Break - Day 2 Easter Weekend

My oldest and youngest went outside first, it meant I couldn’t take a shower because it was a beautiful day and there was no time for Mama to shower. I just threw some clothes on and fixed my pigtail braids and ventured outside with them. They had fun being goofy, I called it a yoga lesson.

My middle child, Aj, ventured outside finally and he started to plan a game of soccer. We played a bit of soccer and monkey in the middle before the kids tired of it and Aj headed back inside. Aj isn’t an outdoor kid, he enjoys it in moments rather than for full days like my oldest and youngest. So I kept the door open and windows opened for the house so Aj could go back and forth.

My youngest is my little actor, shown above he is jamming out with his ukelele and later his sister and him actually put on a show singing the song Demons by Imagine Dragons. It was beautiful! On this rock, my daughter also found owl pellets and so we think there’s an owl living in our woods, I would have to agree, I hear this owl every night when I am sitting out on the deck after dark.

Since it was Easter weekend, I planned our normal egg hunt out. Filling plastic eggs with candy and change. Then the kids stayed inside so I could hide the eggs all over the yard. Aj hid a few too, because he never gets to hide them, he said. I allowed him to hide a few to feel special.

And then the kids grabbed their baskets and were ready for the hunt!

The kids searched high and they searched low. It took us a bit to find the last three eggs, and since I bought 30 plastic eggs they were good about dividing up the eggs so all three had 10 plastic eggs each. Then the trading started to happen, each kid started to trade money for jelly beans and jelly beans for malt balls. They had a blast, my youngest ended up with like no change and all candy just the way he likes it. Oh I think the youngest did keep a few quarters, you know, for the gumball machines!

There were no meltdowns. There were no issues and I received hugs from Aj quite frequently on this day, which is not something he normally does. Another beautiful day spent enjoying family.

A Wonderful Easter Sunday

Baby Niece

Olivia with her Daddy

Easter Sunday is normally¬† just another day for me, if the kids are here they wake up and find their Easter baskets that the Easter Bunny hid all over the house for them. When the kids are gone, like this past Easter, then it’s simply just another day. The Easter Bunny visits and hides the baskets but the kids do not get to find them until they return home on Monday. As most of you know that talk to me often or read my blog, I became an aunt for the first time in January and so this year a new tradition was born. Whether this is done yearly or not, I don’t know, all I do know is this – Easter Sunday this year was spent at my sisters and her husbands apartment. Sister cooked a nice ham meal for us to gobble up and I got to spend quality time with my niece and sister.

Me Getting Olivia Love

What a fun day it was to see my niece for the first time in forever, you see between the virus that was in my home and took a month to get over and now my sister and her family being sick with the virus, it just wasn’t smart to have all of us around each other. Since my baby niece is still sick as well as my sister and her husband I wasn’t quite sure about heading over at all anytime soon but the temptation of great company combined with great food was simply irresistible. And so I went over to the sisters house and enjoyed ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing and deviled eggs. Then for dessert we had strawberry shortcake, it was super yummy and I left super full.

I was so happy to see my sister and to get my baby fix, my youngest is four so any chance to snuggle and cuddle with a baby I am going to go for. Olivia is getting so big and she is smiling a lot now. I loved watching her lay on her back on the floor while I leaned over her talking to her and she smiled then turned her head as if she was playing shy not wanting me to see her smile. I had a lovely Easter Sunday and I hope all of you did too. Now it’s time to return back to regular work week schedule and children duty.

The Cool Kids Rocked Easter at Meme’s

We went to my mother’s house for Easter this year, which was really cool because I rarely get to visit with my Mom and my kids were totally the cool kids rockin’ Easter this year.

I am raising a cowgirl apparently, although this is a Hannah Montana hat the Easter Bunny brought Miss Ki and seems to be a little too small. The boys enjoyed playing with Dad. The two year old seems to think if he covers his eyes than no one can see him.

Dad has a face like “I know I am about to get hit with those hands when he removes them”, which is probably true. That two year old is crazy lately!

Do not be fooled by this laughter, she is holding bread. The thing missing from the picture? A few chickens, like seven of them. Miss Ki hit the chickens with bread and they went a running and well she started laughing.

My Mom has Newfoundlands and English Mastiff’s this would be her female Newfoundland, Lilly who was loving the attention from the kids on this fine Easter Sunday. Such a sweet dog she is!

I was very happy to see the kids having fun, although they didn’t eat much they did laugh and have a great time. Thanks to my Mom for a great Easter dinner, always nice to spend time with her since we normally spend most of our time at my Dad’s house running the fields at the farm.

What did you do this year on Easter?
