Building with Mega Bloks with My Little Man

We had school vacation for over a week, then two snow days. The stomach bug hit our home and so there were more school days missed on top of the already planned school break plus snow days. My children have been home more often than in school the past month so we have been trying our hardest to have some fun, during our non sick moments.

Building Mega Bloks for Fun with Kids

We have a house full of toys but we also have a house full of electronics, this means there is  constant battle between getting kids to not want electronics. My little man isn’t a huge electronic playing kid, while he enjoys time on MineCraft here and there, overall he is a child who benefits most from one on one interaction with his toys.

Building Cage for Flashlight Friend out of Mega Bloks

We decided Mega Bloks would be fun on this particular day! My son wasn’t interested in building a huge, tall tower because “it will fall”. My son wasn’t interested in building a garage for his cars to play in. I finally used some of my own imagination and said, “hey let’s build a cage for your Flashlight Friend”. The little man’s face brightened and so we went on to build a cage for our Flashlight Friend Penguin.

When the cage was near finished, we weren’t really ready to call it quits yet so we looked at the blocks to figure out what more we could do to this cage…

Cookie Monser Mega Blok guards Flashlight Friend

We found Cookie Monster and decided that Cookie Monster would be the best guard for our cage while we ventured out of the bedroom of creativity with Mega Bloks to interact with the other two kiddos in the house. Cookie Monster did a great job guarding our Flashlight Friend, to this day, he is still in his cage!

10 Ways to Maximise Your Living Space

maximize living space

Finding ways to maximise your living space is important, because it’s inevitable that you’ll collect many odds and ends throughout your life. Instead of investing in costly storage units or having to toss out cherished items periodically, here are ten ways you can maximise your living space.

  1. Purchase Products That Serve Multiple Purposes

Storage ottomans and side tables with extra storage are excellent if you want to maximise your living space. Simply store away a few titbits in these items that do more than just look good in your living room.

  1. Use Light Colours

Having dark rooms often downplays the amount of space you have available. After all, it’s said that black is sliming, so use lighter colours to open up a room.

  1. Install Mirrors

Although it may simply be a parlour trick, using mirrors in various rooms can give the impression of extra space. Having many mirrors in a room will give off the illusion of a far bigger interior.

  1. Arrange Your Furniture

Pushing all of your furniture to one side of a room can make it look very cluttered. When arranging furniture in a room, try spacing everything out and avoid the tendency to put that big couch flat against the back wall.

  1. Collapsible Furniture

Look into purchasing furniture pieces that can be folded up and downsized, such as sofa beds or drop leafs in dining room tables.

  1. Avoid Pattern

Having walls that are multi-coloured or walls that are papered with patterns can visually shrink the size of a room. Opt for monochromatic colours or colours that are paired with accent walls.

  1. Go High

Adding décor or bright colours to a ceiling will draw visitors’ eyes upward, creating the illusion of height. This will make rooms seen taller than they are and it will add an extra dimension to people’s appraisal of your living space.

  1. Utilise Your Windows

Open windows can create forced perspective, making your rooms look larger in comparison to your exterior. Also, don’t forget to utilise your window sill space with those odd trinkets that don’t really seem to have a place of their own.

  1. Reduce Clutter

Instead of having nine or ten pieces of small furniture that clutter a room, try to utilise two or three larger pieces that will open the space.

  1. Clean Up!

Sometimes the most effective solutions are the easiest to implement. If you feel that your space is cluttered, put away that ironing board and all of those toys on the floor.

Maximising your living space is easy, all you have to do is follow these ten simple tips. For more information, visit Anglia Home Furnishings.

This is how you Start a Campfire says Four Year Old

My four year old tells me all of these silly stories and sometimes stories in which I realize he has a huge imagination, well here is my four year old explaining how you use plastic water bottles to start a campfire. While I have no clue why he seems to think this works, and maybe it does work, I do not burn plastic, not even in a campfire… ever. And for that matter, neither does he. He does not play with fire, but here is K-man’s video story….

What’s your Armchair Style?

I have a recliner in my bedroom, it is my favorite chair to sit in and I absolutely would not give it up for anything. When I walk into my bedroom, if any of my kids are on that chair they know to remove their bums quickly. I do not even have to say a word. It’s just a given fact that the armchair is mine. While the chair I use is my favorite, there are others in the household, none of which compare to this queens armchair, but still, you know what I mean!

Leopard Print armchair

Since I have a large enough bedroom, the bedroom is setup with the appearance of a living room/bedroom, having two armchairs, a television and my sleep number bed. My daughter probably wishes that her bedroom was that of the size of mine because then she could have a beautiful armchair in her room as well. One in which everyone would zoom their bums out of when she entered the room!

While my daughter does not have her own armchair, I think as she gets closer to the teenage years, she will eventually have a job of her own and wish to purchase various household items of her own.  Having a Variety of high quality armchairs to choose from within various local stores and online shops would be of the highest importance when helping my oldest pick out her own armchair because she has a taste in different colors and prints day by day, it seems.

My personal choice would be a darker color but not too gloomy, however, when I was my daughters age I would have gone with a black or a dark purple. I always wanted a black and purple decor room as a tween and teen.

Genuine Exotic Leather Shopping for the Leather Fan

The boyfriends son loves leather, he really wants a leather jacket. Currently the boy wears a jacket that his Mom let him borrow but I am not sure he wears it all of the time. Anyways, as his 13th birthday approaches we have been discussing options for birthday presents for this young, almost teen boy. Obviously being able to afford a leather jacket would be out of the question. However the products I see that are genuine exotic leather on the shopping site Crocojoly, seem to be a bit more reasonable in pricing.

Geuinine Leather

Not to mention there are many product options for the leather fanatic, such as gorgeous leather wallets. While I am not the leather jacket wearing type any longer, I could use a nice leather wallet. The styles are endless from plain brown to colorful. I am more of a plain Jane sort of person when it comes to having a wallet, if it’s genuine leather than I want it to be black.

As I gear up for birthday season, I think the idea of letting you all know about this genuine exotic leather website makes sense.

I have to ask .. are there any birthdays coming up in your household soon and do you have any leather lovers in your household?
