Happy New Year 2013

We rang in the New Year in a kid friendly way last night with pizza, snacks and great company! My crew and I packed up to head out for a fun slumber party night of conversations, laughter and some hyper activity (my boys were to blame there).

Happily Blended Crew

From my crew to yours, Happy New Year! May this year bring you much love, happiness and success!

Update Your Blogging Goals for 2012

With a New Year comes an end of year, when you have to tally up all of the numbers to see what it is you earned this year and what type of taxes you have to pay for being self employed. End of year profit/loss statements are fun for me, but I use Outright.com all year round to assist in keeping reporting easy. Outright.com – Dead Simple Accounting Online. Free Trial!

Wait a minute, forget about the end of year reports, it’s a NEW YEAR, it’s 2012 and I want to know what your goals are this year! I think when we share our goals with each other it holds us accountable to stick with them and report in to someone, which means we are more likely to pursue reaching or exceeding our goals in 2012. As with every blogging effort, we are a community so let’s rock 2012 together!

Goals for My Blogs in 2012

  • Increase traffic by 50% mid year and 100% by end of year.
  • Sign on with a new ad network to increase revenue from blog viewers.
  • Grow my MVL blog to have 50% more traffic by end of year.
  • Attend one blog conference and take courses to help me reach my goals.
  • Research local events in NH, Boston MA and NYC to gain sponsorship to attend.
  • Find a babysitter so that I can attend more blog events locally. {semi-personal & blog goal}
  • Focus on creating an editorial calendar for each month & stick with the calendar.
  • Know my worth; don’t settle for anything less than what I set my rates to be unless it’s for a charitable cause close to my heart.
  • Comment on more friends blogs and find some new blogs that I can benefit from reading.
  • Get on a “blogger list” by end of year; such as the lists companies create acknowledging certain bloggers for specific strengths.

Now – tell me at lease ONE goal you have in 2012 that you want to be held accountable to following through with or working hard to make happen?

Nickelodeon: Food With Friends

Today I am excited to announce that on May 17th a new Nickelodeon movie will release and it’s called Nickelodeon: Food with Friends.  I know that my two year old is in love with this DVD because after all it has Yo Gabba Gabba in it and we did see these characters in person at Meadowbrook!

Dora the Explorer – El Día de las Madres

It’s Mother’s Day and Dora wants to help Papi bake Mamá a special cake. Three key ingredients are missing: bananas, nuts and chocolate, so with Boots’ help, Dora sets out to gather them. Then it’s time for a big Mother’s Day party with all of Dora’s friends and their mommies!

Go, Diego, Go! – Green Iguana Helps Abuelito Plant a New Strawberry Farm

It’s time for Abuelito’s Strawberry Festival, but when a strong wind blows all the strawberries away, Alicia must ask Diego for help. Green Iguana can save the day by transporting strawberry seeds in her belly and putting them into the soil so more strawberries can grow. They have to climb up trees to get to the top of the cliff, use stilts to get through the grass, swim through the lily pads and help iguana camouflage to hide from a scary animal. Most importantly, Iguana must get to Abuelito’s farm!

The Wonder Pets! – Save the Bee/Save the Squirrel

The Wonder Pets shrink down to bee-size to help a baby bee collect nectar for her first hive. Later on, a piglet comes to live in the classroom and the Wonder Pets each want to take care of it on their own. Eventually, they realize they need to work together to take care of the rather large piglet.

Blue’s Clues – The Grow Show

To find out what Blue wants to do outside, come help look for clues to learn the process of where orange juice comes from with Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper; investigate the elements of length and volume by comparing inchworms and puddles with Shovel and Pail; and categorize fruits and vegetables by where they grow with the felt friends.

Yo Gabba Gabba! – Eat

The characters learn the fun of eating vegetables and healthy meals. During “Party in My Tummy” and “Snacky Snack Snack” the vegetables beg to participate; and then the characters learn to try new things in “Try It You’ll Like It.” And finally, everyone learns that cleaning up their mess is just as fun as having a party in “Clean It Up”.

Ni Hao, Kai-lan – Happy Chinese New Year

It’s Chinese New Year, which means a big feast and red envelopes with friends and family! Kai-lan and her friends are thrilled because this year, they’re old enough to carry the huge dragon costume. Rintoo is assigned to march in the middle of the dragon but he doesn’t think the middle is important so he walks away. Without Rintoo, they can’t carry the dragon so Kai-lan must find a way to show Rintoo that every job on a team is important. In the end, the Dragon Team comes together to make the dragon dance and Yeye ends the day by giving a special red envelope to everyone.

What Happily Blended Preschooler Thought

Baby K is in love with this movie! He watches it over and over again! As a Mom, I love that it is fun, educational and something I can snuggle up and watch with my preschooler!

Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers on DVD now

I am excited to be reviewing some of the best titles from Nickelodeon lately and one DVD title that came out on February 8th is called Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers.  My two year old son has loved watching this DVD, the funny thing is he sees Dora on the front and expects Dora and Diego but this DVD features those two characters as well as Wonder Pets!, Blue’s Clues, and  Ni Hao Kai-lan. All of the shows on this DVD are about brothers and sisters.

My youngest, who enjoys this DVD the most, isn’t able to relate to much of the cartoons because he will never have another sibling as he is our last but my four year old and eight year old have caught some of the DVD episodes and I can see their facial and verbal expressions relate to some of the characters who expect or care for a new little one in the family.

Dora the Explorer – Big Sister Dora

Dora has some really exciting news: someone new is joining Dora’s family! Someone who sleeps in a cradle, drinks from a bottle, wears diapers, and likes to be rocked to sleep. Dora’s Mami is having a baby! Maybe it’s a boy…or maybe it’s a girl. Dora and Boots have to get home quickly to find out!

Go, Diego, Go! – To Babysit a Bobo

The Bobos’s are on their way to the Spider Monkey Fiesta with their 3 new Baby Bobo Sisters. And as the Bobos search for fruit for the party, the restless Bobo Sisters speed off into the forest to look for fruit without them!

Blue’s Clues – The Baby’s Here!

While waiting for Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper to call from the hospital with news of the new baby here, Paprika prepares to be a big sister. Looking at baby books gives everyone a chance to learn about what they were like when they were really little.

Wonder Pets! – KalamaZoo! / Back to KalamaZoo!

Ming-Ming visits her Aunt Eleanora at the local petting zoo during a school holiday. Eleanora asks Ming-Ming to take care of her toddler cousin, Marvin, for the afternoon. Ming-Ming thinks this will be a “piece-of-cake” but Marvin proves to be quite a spirited little Duck. Ming-Ming must learn to look beyond her own needs and find the patience and compassion to take care of Marvin.

Ni Hao, Kai-lan – Hoho’s Big Flight

On the day of the big lantern festival to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year, Grampa gives Kai-lan some lanterns for her and her friends to decorate. But when Hoho’s lantern flies away, he jumps on it, and everyone goes on a big chase to get him down!

Happily Blended Family Thoughts

With a running time of 122 minutes and suggested retail value of $16.99 our family has absolutely loved this collection all on one fantastic DVD. My two year old is extremely in love with Dora and Diego but also found himself singing along to the Wonder Pets! theme song. I felt confident as a parent that allowing my children to watch this DVD they were learning something while having their relax time.

An excellent addition to any family with preschoolers or who is expecting a baby anytime soon. This is a great DVD to show your children in a fun way how to treat your siblings!
