My One Tidbit of Advice For Anyone and Any Situation

I, like most of you, have been through a lot of experiences both great and some bad. I, like most of you, have learned from these mistakes and do my best to spread my advice on what to do as a means to assist others in seeing a different side of their scenario. Some people love the advice, while others think I am meddling in their world. You see, I am great at lending just the right advice to others but not always one to take my own advice. I think that’s called being human.

How to Lead a Happy Life

I have a lot going on in my world right now. In December I accepted a marriage proposal and have yet to really think much about the actual wedding planning. There are a lot of other things that weigh more heavily on my mind and heart than a wedding. Children for example. There is a lot going on behind the scenes.

I wish I could share every last detail, because I am sure someone out there is dealing with similar issues, but alas I cannot share details. All I can say is that co-parenting should be easier than most people make it out to be. That frustrates me beyond belief at how so many fail at co-parenting their children, in return the children pay the ultimate price and anyone else who is part of those children’s lives. Sigh.

I think my simple most non-complicated piece of advice I can lend you all, no matter what you are dealing with, is this;

Try not to be quick in reacting with emotional responses. Take time to think, with an open mind, where other people may be coming from with what they are saying or doing in life. Take time to realize that, while you think you are doing it all right, the other person/people may think you are doing it all wrong. If you can keep a positive mindset, speak with heart felt opinions, and keep an open mind about the other side of the story, then I think you can survive nearly any unpredicted scenario that plays out in your life.

Sharing the Tradition of Cutting Down a Real Christmas Tree 2013 #happilyblended #family

Christmas has come and gone so quickly, even the 12 days of vacation from school that my children had just flew by too fast. I wanted to share our Christmas Tree story because, well it’s a bit late but a fun story to share.

Oh Christmas Tree

For years my children and I, up until last year, my ex husband was included too – we go and cut down our Christmas Tree. It’s a family tradition. Last Christmas (of 2012) was the first year my ex husband and I did things separately, as our youngest was starting to have issues realizing Mommy and Daddy are not together even though we do a lot together as a “family unit”. The traditions of our prior family had to stop being shared together as adults, but separately with our sons for each household. It was important for us to do that for our sons to move forward.

So this Christmas, 2013, was the first year we celebrated with my fiance and his children. The kids and I really want to make the fiance and his kids realize that they are a full part of our family here, the children of my fiance now have two homes – one with their Mom and one here with their Dad and me. It’s important to everyone here that the children feel at home while they visit every other weekend. Sharing our picking out and cutting down of the family Christmas Tree was important.

Little Human Christmas Tree

We all headed out in two vehicles to the place just near our house to get a tree. Basically this place cuts the tree down for you and the five kids and us walked around until we found a tree that we wanted.

Human Christmas Tree

You see picking out a tree was half the battle, getting it into the house and on that little human tree stand was another story. The boys and my step daughter had a fun time being all cute pretending to be the real Christmas Tree.  We did finally get that tree up on our tree stand and it was ready for the annual tradition of Brandy and Kiara to go at it while attempting to put garland and lights on the tree… now that was entertainment for the remainder of our family.

Christmas Tree 2013

It all started when Kiara felt the need to report that I totally suck with winding of the garland and/or lights. Each time I attempt to wrap anything like she does in the picture above, I end up with tangles and knots. She is great at this  …. I am not. I am simply a pawn waiting for Kiara’s next command, or idle threat of hoping the garland is around my neck as she pulls to wrap it around her arm. She’s a sweet child, I promise!

Happily Blended Tree Cutting

Then the arguing commences over who wants what where and why. This is ridiculous to me, but the five children placed various decorations on our first time Blended Family Christmas Tree with little mishaps. Us adults, had the job of cleaning the decorations because my over 10 year old candy canes melted and got all over the decor leaving us with no candy canes on tree this year.

Christmas Tree Tradition

Finally our first Christmas tree together as a family was complete and we enjoyed looking at it every night until about 2 days after Christmas when I had enough and took it all down! It’s important as we plan for a 2015 wedding that we remind our children that all 5 of them are our family, together always. They are all to be included, loved and made to feel a part of our lives whether with us or the other parent. We love our five combined children and would do anything for them! I was a merry, happy evening this particular evening and it’s a memory I will hang onto for years.

5 good reasons to get a credit card

If you’re lucky enough to be in a reasonably healthy financial situation you may wonder why you’d even need to use a credit card. However, even the wealthiest individuals make use of them, so there must be some benefits. Here are a few of our favourite reasons to consider them:

Improve your credit score

Lenders like to see evidence you’re a responsible borrower and a worthwhile risk before giving you access to credit. While you may not need this immediately, it’s always worth having one eye on the future. For example, a good credit score will boost your chances of being approved for a mortgage. A great way to do this is to have a track record of regularly meeting repayments – no matter how small they may seem – on time.

Extra protection

If you’ve ever bought goods online that never turned up or were faulty you’ll know how frustrating the experience can be, particularly if the retailer isn’t keen on issuing a refund. With a credit card this situation can typically be resolved with a quick telephone call. Compare credit cards to find out what protection they provide, as certain products also offer additional warranties for purchases such as electronic goods.

Accepted worldwide

Certain companies may not accept payment by debit card when you’re travelling overseas, even if it’s supplied by a major bank. Credit cards are accepted around the globe and prevent you from having to carry large sums of money around with you at any given time, which can prove particularly risky when in unfamiliar surroundings away from home. Of course, this extra security is a bonus wherever you are in the world.

Reap the rewards

It’s not often you get anything more than the goods or services you’ve purchased when you shop, but certain credit cards will reward you for your spending. Perks can vary, but examples include cash back and air miles, meaning you can enjoy something using cash or a debit card alone wouldn’t have provided you with.

Keep track of your expenditure

If you’re looking to stay on top of where your money is being spent the monthly statement from your credit card provider might be a good way to do just that. It will detail where and when you’ve spent, which might help you to form a budget planner.

Making Time for Adult Time is an Important Part of a Love Life

Adult time is an extremely important part of having a long term serious relationship, how else can two people continue to learn each other, enjoy time together and talk about something other than juggling children and what’s for dinner? Movie night is an easy way to get some alone time while the children sleep but when children are young they  may not sleep at a time that allows for movie night. Another option is to allow family to take your child or children overnight, this allows for the wife or girlfriend in the relationship to slip into one of their nice lingerie sets and feel all pretty for an evening.

When there are children in the house, wearing lingerie may not happen, that is unless you actually can have alone time in your bedroom after hours. Then you can slip into something nice just to relax with your loved one wrapped up in each others arms watching a movie or your favorite television show. Adult time really can be something as simple as snuggled up reading together but it can be much more enticing when your loved one is wearing something a little tempting. That doesn’t mean something has to “happen”, it just is fun to look pretty and know that your loved one wants you still.

Being a work from home Mom, during the winter months, adult time with my partner is extremely important because due to the lack in sunlight, my emotions run low. It’s nice to have a little bit of snuggle time alone with my loved one during those cold, less sunlight evenings. I used to have cute lingerie that I wore on occasion but it was simply because it was too hot at night to wear any other pajama option available to me. I would love to have more adult time, but for now we get one weekend a month. The other weekends we have children and our children will come first, but that doesn’t mean we can’t snuggle up in our bedroom to watch a movie together one night a week when all is silent.

How do you make time to have alone time with the love of your life?
