Lose Weight Using Muay Thai

How can you lose weight and get fit? Well many will tell you that it is all about balancing the right proportions of food and working out. Partaking in any fitness type activity will assist you in losing weight quicker than simply choosing a new diet change. With so many dieting fads out there, I am Queen of pushing a fitness routine. I recently heard about Suwit muay thai, which is a training gym in Thailand. This training camp welcomes other martial arts fitness type camps around the world to check them out.

Muay thai boxing is a thai kick boxing contact sport and muay thai boxing combines skill and power. From what I have seen and heard, this muay thai is the best style of unarmed combat. I personally feel that you can use muay thai as a form of self defense, people could even use muay thai as a training to lose weight all the while learning the skills necessary to defend against and predators they may run into.

Who wouldn’t want to get fit while learning the best style of unarmed combat around? Sign me up! I have been talking for awhile now about how I would love to get into a program with my oldest that teaches some form of self defense. Muay thai seems to be the best choice out there, learning this form of boxing really steps up your world a bit. Building confidence is also something I really thrive to push as part of my mission in life, muay thai training will certainly be a confidence booster for two reasons; you will start losing weight and you will feel as if you have your own form of defense without weapon use.

I ask you all this, have any of you tried muay thai or something similar as a way to lose weight? Please share your stories in the comments below.

Day 25 & 26 EA Sports Active Workout

Day 25 was a short workout for me, I didn’t burn as many calories as normal with my medium intensity workouts, but I was happy to at least get a workout in before I headed out to work my last day of training for my new job.

The key is to workout daily because I have found if you let your workout slide for more than 1 day it’s hard to gain motivation again. I took 2 rest days in a row and man it was hard to get me back on that EA Sports Active, but lucky for me, AJ encourages me by taking all of my workout items so that I can workout. He will tell me everyday I need to workout and I bet the biggest reason is that after I do my workout he is allowed to do what he calls “his workout”. AJ’s workout is the Wii SPORTS game where he is normally found playing boxing, but he also enjoys playing baseball.

Fitness Friday: Safe Way To Fight With Sibling

The safe way to knock out your little brother who has been pulling your hair, pinching you and biting you all of his short life is to use Wii Sports Boxing.  Wii Sports Boxing is a work out – it works out your arms and if you can’t stand still it may even work out your legs.

At this moment in our lives we have a 2 year old boy and 6 year old girl who refuse to get along longer than an hour. Turn on the Wii Sports Boxing and you have two kids that can get along for hours! Not only will the children be getting along, but they can safely knock each other out.

Baby K and I sat in my office chair cheering AJ and Ki on while they boxed. AJ didn’t have a clue what he was doing and yelled “Yay … Sissy knocked out me” {yes, his exact words} every time Ki announced she had knocked out AJ. He didn’t care that he was losing, he just cared that him and sissy were laughing and for the first time in a while she was not bossing him around!

The children were exercising without even knowing it. Ki had to quit before her little brother because her arms were getting tired, and AJ kept right at it while I allowed him to knock Mama out in a two player match against me ;-)

The  Wii game console is the most amazing video game player created! The reason we love it so much is because the  Wii Games encourage fun and getting fit. The Wii Console is something I would highly recommend for any family, even those that do not wish for their child to be in front of “video games” all day, we are parents and we can encourage as well as discourage game play time. There is nothing wrong with a bit of Wii to get your children fit, especially on a rainy, dreary day when going outside is out of the question.
