My Boys Turned 6 and 8

So August was a busy month; in between preparing for Summer to be over and the kids to return to school, we had the boys birthdays. My son Aj turned 8 and my other son K-man turned 6. It seems like my kids are growing way too quickly, soon enough my daughter will be 12 and she is already 3″ shorter than I am. Sigh. The boys spend their actual birthday with their Dad, this allows each of our sons to have one day a year alone with their Daddy. So on K-man’s birthday I had the day with Aj […]

Happy First Birthday to my Niece Livy

Today my niece turns one year old, I cannot believe that one year ago today I was at the hospital with limited time waiting for Miss Olivia to come to this world. I sadly missed the arrival, and she ended up having to come via c-section but I did eventually get to meet her while she was at the hospital with her Mommy. From that first day I fell in love. I held this little baby and felt a love I never thought one could feel except with their own child. Now I know what my sister felt that first […]

Today I Turn 32 Years Old

Today is my birthday and I’ll cry if I wanna. I’ll dance if I wanna. I’ll embarrass you if I wanna. I’ll sleep if I wanna. Today I turn the big ole 32 years of age… and I couldn’t be happier to be another year older Each year I learn more about who I am, what I love and what it is in this world that makes me “tick”. I welcome the 32nd year of my life with open arms. Happy Birthday to ME.

Celebrating Turning 11 Years Old, 11 Days After Birthday

This past weekend my daughter had her 11 year birthday celebration! Some family came and her friends came. There were snacks, music, fun and laughter – cake and ice cream and presents. Miss Ki got all dressed up in my skirt and an old shirt I had given her as she waited for guests to arrive… My little girl isn’t a little girl anymore … I can’t believe she is now 11 and that next year she will be in Junior High. Sigh. After Miss Ki got all dressed up she proceeded to the backyard to ensure her birthday picnic […]

Happy Happy Birthday to my Lovely Daughter

Today my daughter turns 11!! 11 years ago around 4pm Eastern time my daughter came into this world and gave me the title of Mom. Through out the years I have watched her go from the little girl who was all full of curiosity about her world, learning to talk and walk … I watched as my daughter started to have a mind and opinion of her own about the world. I watched and listened as she grew into such a beautiful young girl. I watched as she grew and I continue to watch and learn about who she is […]

What? You Only Have Water in the Cooler? @WATAAH

No …. it’s WAT-AAH! A completely different thing, right? Well yes and no. To the kids, yes. To me, no. The day of my two sons birthday party had arrived and the cases of WAT-AAH! were ready in the cooler with lots of ice to make sure the children and adults at the party were replenished during this hot Summer day. The sun shined down hard on this past Saturday when we hosted a birthday party for the boys. It made all of us sweat and grab for more and more water, but the thing is, WAT-AAH! being the only […]

The Boys Birthday Party #birthdayparty #raisingboys

For the first time in their five and seven years of living, my sons had their first real birthday party ever this past weekend. Both boys were allowed to invite any friends they wanted and, of course, any that I could find a way to contact as this was Summer break from school. The boys were happy to have friends here for a party, and of course relatives as well. Some relatives I haven’t seen much of in the past, such as my cousin Troy and his girlfriend even arrived! I had to rush to the store first thing in […]

Sending a Fragile Birthday Present to the US

My brother has lived in Tennessee in the US for 15 years now, but still, every single birthday, I make sure I let him know I’ve remembered by sending him a gift. With his birthday fast approaching once again, I’ve been thinking about possible ideas for birthday gifts I can send to the US. Obviously there are some things which are just a bad idea. As much as I’d love to send him his favourite macaroons from an expensive shop in London, I know they won’t last the journey. They’ll taste the same, but pistachio green almondy crumbs aren’t as […]

A Brief Recap of my Birthday Weekend {more to come}

I mentioned that yesterday was my birthday, well I also mentioned that Sheila from SheilaCakesBlog is here visiting. I had a fantastic birthday weekend. First I took Sheila around to see the Goshen Ocean {which is really called Gunnison Lake} we took pictures and laughed so hard we cried. We had a great time being silly and enjoying the view at the lake. Also, I decided to try to pretend I was on a balance beam, while Sheila captured it in a snapshot picture … Prior to that I had to show off my muscles, because I had been talking […]

Celebrating a Birthday during the Holidays

A birthday is a special day. It is the one day during the year that each of us can claim a little fame. As Warhol said, in the future we’ll each get 15 minutes of fame. We deserve a day to be recognized and to be treated with special consideration. Birthdays are ideal for this. And most people have no problem insisting that their birthday be recognized as an important day. But what about those individuals born on a holiday? Should their birthdays be ignored or treated as less important just because the rest of the nation is celebrating a […]
