What You Will Need:

How to Make Halloween Pumpkin Water Jugs:

  • This is super easy and so simple a toddler can take part in creating their own Halloween Pumpkin Water Jugs! Take the old, empty water jug and let your kids draw scary or funny Pumpkin faces on the jug. Using markers or paint they can decorate the jugs to their liking. Get even more creative using glow in the dark paint or markers.
  • Once done, an adult needs to prepare the glow stick and insert it into the water jug. Take note to place some stones or dirt on the inside of the Halloween Pumpkin Water jug to avoid it from tipping over or blowing away during the windy Fall season weather.

While this was a super fun activity to do as a family, we found that the water jug pumpkins were looking best on one night outside. The glow sticks we used simply were not enough light to keep them glowing as bright as day one. Just glad we were able to do something altogether as a family that was fun and each child put their own creativity into their own water jug pumpkin.

Basically you have fun taking all of the supplies referenced above drawing on the water jugs, insert rocks or water in the button of the jug to ensure they don’t blow away while on display outside your front door and then insert the glow stick or other item that can make it glow and voila!

There you have it, a low cost way to decorate your home for Halloween this year with these Halloween Pumpkin Water Jugs!

  5. That would be a fun Halloween craft for the kids. Maybe a battery powered votive would be better than glow sticks. But as you said, the best thing was that it was an activity the whole family participated in.
