Planning a Wedding with This Guy

I am planning a wedding for the year 2015. We originally were thinking Spring/Summer of this year but not so sure we will make that deadline and figure we could possibly wait til 2015, what’s the hurry right? We have been together a year as of late December and by the time 2015 rolls around we will be nearing three years together, that would honestly be the longest engagement I have ever had. We shall see if we stick with 2015 or not, depends on how all of this wedding planning goes….

Planning a 2015 Wedding

I have no clue and he has no clue on how to plan a traditional wedding. We both want a semi-traditional wedding that is semi-formal. We have narrowed down some things about our wedding plans and they are:

  • Guests don’t have to dress up, they can wear whatever attire they feel most comfortable in. Yes, sure, if they want to wear their Pajama’s so be it, but remember pictures are being taken so if you want that memory, go for it!
  • We are leaning towards black and lilac for our wedding colors.
  • I will wear a traditional white wedding gown of some sort.
  • We will not spend a lot of money creating a semi-traditional wedding.

So far that’s the gist of where we are at, but there isn’t a whole lot to discuss because we are so perfect for each other that each plan just bounces off the other so easily. We tossed some ideas around and both are pretty agreeable with most of what each other say. He wants to wear a tux with tails? Sure .. whatever works. He wants a top hat and cane? Well … I am still thinking about that idea.

This much is true; we want to have this wedding day be a day that celebrates and showcases us as individuals as well as a couple. Everything will simply fall into place …. because that’s how we roll.

You sound like my husband and I planning our wedding! We wanted a comfortable wedding. We could have eloped, but we wanted to celebrate with family. It was a dress casual summer wedding!I know yours will be perfect!

How many occasions do you get to wear a top hat and a cane? I think that’s cool. :)

It’s nice that you can bounce ideas off of one another so easily.

I am so excited for you! I can’t wait to see pictures of when you guys get married. My husband and I just got married at city hall and had a small reception afterwards at a restaurant. Nice and simple how I like it!

Aw, congratulations! As long as it’s what you truly want then whatever you guys decide will be great. My dream wedding has honestly always been eloping to Las Vegas and getting married by an Elvis impersonator. Maybe one of these days, ha!

I like the idea of keeping the more relaxed and allowing guests to wear what they want. Heck, in traditional weddings by the end of the night you are taking off your shoes and stockings anyways! I am sure it will be beautiful either way :)

For my second time around, we went to Vegas. I toyed around with the idea of having a small casual wedding, but then I thought it would be more fun to get hitched by Elvis, so that is what we did.

people are going to dress based on the formality of your invite and the time of day the wedding takes place.

i’ve photographed dozens of weddings and coordinated a few dozen as well. love going to all of them!

Sounds like you guys are perfect for each other! And honestly, just roll with it :) A wedding is a big deal, but most importantly its about YOU!

You can certainly be frugal about a wedding! Ours was under $2k! I’d be a bit cautious about anything goes for clothing, though. My mom’s biggest regrets is a family member that wore bright pink and stood out so bad like a sore thumb in every single picture.

We planned our wedding in 10 months on a budget (under $2000.) It was so great! I bought my dress on ebay (it was brand new. And perfect.) :)

    Good luck with your planning!

I’m so excited for you!! I have often thought about renewing vows with Matthew for our 20th. I think it would be fun (and stressful) to plan a wedding again.

Congratulations! I think it’s totally ok to take your time. I was engaged over 1.5 years which is also pretty long in comparison to friends. What really matters is that y’all are happy and in love!

Congrats! Wedding planning can be stressful so I’m glad you are agreeing with each other. I think the top hat and cane sounds like a fun idea!
