Today I am here to share a new book for your children to enjoy, Bugs in my Hair. This is a book written by David Shannon. Head lice is the topic, a subject that is tabooed by many, “ewwww that person has head lice, they are gross and dirty” you know how it goes with the shame in facing the fact that your child got head lice. Can you imagine the shame your child feels when wind is put out there in the school? Children are mean and immature which means that they are not educated in the fact that head lice happens.

David Shannon is a comical writer, my children fully enjoyed “No, David” which is another book he wrote and you will be able to have a chance at wining three of David Shannon’s books below if you choose to enter the giveaway.

Bugs in My Hair is guaranteed to make you giggle while itching your head, let’s face it I am itching my head writing this post because it’s just what us humans seems to do at the mere thought that a bug may be present somewhere. We all know that itching sensation that comes with even the words “head lice” mentioned. Do not fear, David Shannon is really great at making you laugh at the most itchiest part of life in Bugs in my Hair.

Bugs in Hair David Shannon

I seriously love this children’s book and it’s fun to read to two little active boys who have a vivid imagination, David Shannon is superb at bringing out your child’s love for books with his humorous writing and colorful illustrations.

I’m not familiar with his books, I’ve always just read the books that have been handed down from my family (so they’re literally like 20 years old). I want to start reading more modern books, Jake is dyslexic so we read all the time to try to help him learn his words and I need something that will entertain ME!

His new book “Bugs in my Hair” may be my new favorite. Itching to get a copy.

I have never heard of this author, but I can say that we had our first lice experience last year. Growing up we always heard about lice being this horrible and dirty thing. It’s definitely not fun at all. Especially for Mom. My oldest daughter was in an ALL girls class last year and picked it up there. Every child in that class had it at one point or another. She passed it along to her sister too! What a nightmare. They were devastated, and I was too. I wore my (then) long hair in a tight bun for weeks to avoid it. I truly think almost half of the school had it. I’m going to suggest this book to a few teachers at the school as it is still going around this year. Thank you for sharing this!
