Waxing your underarms can be a quick and effective way to get rid of unwanted and unsightly hair. In addition to being a quick remedy for the frustrating fuzz, it has many benefits that outweigh the traditional method of shaving using a razor. For instance, after waxing, hair grows back softer and at a much slower pace. However, achieving soft skin with no bumps or irritation requires a certain level of attention and maintenance. Taking the time to treat your body with proper post-waxing homecare following underarm waxing will produce the best results.

Tip 1: Refrain from applying deodorants and/or perfumes to the freshly waxed area for at least 24 hours after waxing underarms. Keep in mind that skin that has just been waxed is extra sensitive, and deodorants and perfumes contain chemicals that can irritate the skin even more and in turn, may cause an irritating rash and/or allergic reaction.

Tip 2: After underarm waxing, keep shower/bath water temperatures cool to lukewarm in an effort to avoid irritation. It’s also a good idea to avoid using soaps and scented lotions on the newly waxed area. Like perfumes and deodorants, soaps and scented lotions contain certain chemicals that can cause irritation. While it may be difficult to refrain from using these products that are a part of your daily hygiene regimen, it’s imperative. Use of these products can result in bumps, swelling, rashes, and infections that last for days, or even weeks, whereas by refraining from using them for just 24 hours, you will greatly reduce the risk.

Tip 3: While we want you to stay in the best shape possible, you should avoid any exercise, including swimming, for at least 24 hours after your underarm waxing treatment. When you exercise, you sweat. The sweat could clog the hair follicles which will usually result in a painful rash and/or infection. Also, the chemicals used in swimming pools can also irritate freshly waxed skin.

You will love the many benefits of underarm waxing, which is low-maintenance option for stubble-free, smooth, luxurious skin. You will experience the best results by following these simple tips and moisturizing daily. Shaving your underarms will soon become a thing of the past. If you happen to experience any redness and swelling after waxing your underarms, try a hydrocortisone cream, which may soothe the irritated skin and accelerate the healing process.

I believe you, totally, but I’m way too chicken… I’ll save this for the younger/braver crowd. ;)
