Think Confident, Be Confident Review & Giveaway
I recently reviewed Think Confident, Be C0nfident over at Type-A Mom and now I am…
Today I am offering a quick giveaway, because it has to end by November 30, 2012. This is a fun way to get more books into the house and I am happy to fully support this campaign!
My family received a package of Kellogg’s Products and Scholastic Books to read (and eat) together. Thankfully my family loves to read together and have put our books we received to good use.
My youngest just loves Clifford the Big Red Dog books and so to receive the Clifford’s Manners book was an awesome surprise! This is not only good because the K-man loves Clifford but he also could use some hidden secrets/lessons about manners. You would be shocked what some kids learn just from reading books, sure can they get similar messages from movies? Maybe. But a book? Is well worth the lessons learned and quality time spent together!
That is what Kellogg’s and Scholastic have teamed up to do, encourage a love of reading with your little one. Kids are more apt to read if they have chosen a book on their own, my daughter is ten and still would much prefer to pick her own books (usually about Greek Mythology) or else she won’t really get into the book and struggle with her reading time.
Kellogg’s understands the positive impact reading at home every day can have on students’ success in the classroom. That’s why they’ve partnered with Walmart and Scholastic Book Clubs. With the purchase of specially marked Kellogg’s products at Walmart stores, parents can redeem a coupon for a free Scholastic book of their child’s choice.
And since nine out of 10 kids are more likely to finish a book they choose themselves, letting your little ones pick the books they love can help build daily reading habits. To further encourage in-home reading, parents can access free reading resources at www.scholastic.com/readeveryday, part of Scholastic’s Read Every Day global literacy campaign.
Tips for Engaging Reading at Home
So there you have it, tips on how you can start or continue with a love of reading in your home and with your children. If you already have book lovers, I am proud of you! If you do not already have book lovers, remember it is never too late. Sure those teens do not want to sit and read a book, but what if they pick their book and work on reading an interesting series? Engage your teen, make the rewards worth their effort to continue on in reading their own series of books! You can do it, I know you can!
