Many may find great ease in living a life of solitude, of slumping away at home alone dwelling on areas of their life they wish had been slightly modified. From the start, sitting at home like this and not allowing anyone to come into your life seems easier than fighting that instinct to hide, however, as time goes on this solitude may actually cause a tremendous amount of pain. The longer one sinks into a negative or depressed state of mind, the longer it will take them to dig their way out of that deep, dark hole of solitude.
Pride or ego may hinder ones ability to seek professional help to overcome the sadness and negative thoughts that start to consume ones mind after dealing with catastrophic events in their lifetime. A catastrophic event doesn’t have to be huge when an outside person is looking in, but it is an event that holds a high importance to the person who had suffered from such event. There are those out there who are strong enough to move forward in time on their own without professional help but in most cases a professional counselor or psychiatrist should be sought out.
If you are looking to overcome your own negative or depressed state of mind then the first place to start is creating a list of awesome things in your life or awesome things about yourself. Look deep inside of your own soul and find what it is that you can feel some amount of love towards, this could start small, maybe your eyes but as you start with small items try to dig deeper into more of the characteristics that you have, even if they have been hiding inside for a long period of time. We were all once a young, hopeful, happy child, find that person deep inside of your soul and write the positive things you see from those happy days prior to the event that left you in this current state of mind.
Once you have finished with your list of positive factors about yourself, you will need to study this list and receive these awesome, positive items into your mind. Feel the love behind the list, believe the list to be true. Believe in yourself. Each day, for as long as it takes, wake up and study this list as you would for a spelling bee, let each positive self feature or character quality be true, be you and feel in your mind as if there is no doubt behind those positive words you have written down.
