This year I am participating in A Day Made Better as one of the Office Max Moms as I did last year and am excited to be offering a teacher giveaway again!
On behalf of the “A Day Made Better” cause for teachers, you can nominate your favorite teacher to win a gift card to OfficeMax for school supplies!
Teachers are really incredible! They touch so many lives every day and open the doors to opportunity in every way, shape and form. I’ve gotten to know my kids’ teachers over the past few years and have seen first hand their incredible contributions.
With school budgets cuts, teachers are taking matters into their own hands by purchasing their own classroom materials. According to the National Education Association, teachers are spending about $1,000 each year on supplies for their class, which is pretty astonishing. Can you imagine if your job asked you to bring your own tape, scissors, and paper? There would be a backlash, but somehow, teachers have silently picked up the tab…until now.
That’s why I’ve joined the Max Moms for Teachers program to help create awareness and give back to teachers. The Max Moms are working in collaboration with the national “A Day Made Better” cause founded by OfficeMax and nonprofit Adopt-A-Classroom to help erase teacher-funded classrooms. Annually in October, they host a national event that recognizes and rewards over 1,000 teachers with a total of $1 million in school supplies to help alleviate the financial burden and thank them for their hard work.
You too can join in this cause and give back to a deserving teacher by nominating your favorite teacher to receive a $50 gift card for school supplies donated by OfficeMax. You’ll also receive an A Day Made Better cause box, and we encourage you to purchase supplies for your favorite teacher and surprise him or her in her classroom.

My son’s teacher this year, Mrs. Wentworth, is possibly the best teacher he has had. She is very dedicated to her students and is so great about dealing with parent concerns! She makes weekly ‘notes’ explaining what is going on in the classroom and is very fast at returning phone calls and emails. She is passionate about making sure each and every student ‘gets’ what she is teaching. She is innovative about her teaching methods – she has a variety of great teaching tools and self confidence builders that she uses on her students. I absolutely nominate Mrs. Wentworth from Gladwin Community Schools 5th grade teacher!
I would like to nominate my husband Darryl Copeland who is an outstanding teacher in an inner city school. he is a teacher who sees teaching as more than just a profession. For Darryl, teaching is a calling. He is the type of teacher who will pay for a student to go on a field trip out of his own pocket rather than have them miss out on a learning opportunity. Together we shop sales all year long so our students can have the school supplies our students need but their families cannot afford. He is not the type of man who is looking for the recognition. The success of each student is his reward but I wanted to let you and the whole world know what a wonderful teacher he is
