Every single time I hop in the car ready to go to my Dad’s house for a visit my sons beg to go swimming in the pool at the farm. I know they enjoyed the pool so much this past summer. Finally getting used to swimming and closing their eyes when they attempt to plug their nose and go under water just like sissy. I had a great time with them over the summer getting cooled off on a night hot summer day.
The problem is, we are now in the middle of a New Hampshire winter, which means “sorry boys no you can not go swimming in the pool at Grampas”. I mean seriously the pool chemicals that some place in their pool during winter are not something you wish to have your child near. Let alone the hypothermia that sets in because you are in the water in a below zero winter day. Swimming in winter time in an outdoor pool is just quite simply not an option.
I do know that this year I hope to purchase some goggles though, the boys seem to love looking under water but with all the pool chemicals in the pool it dries out the eyes and then you end up with blood shot, itchy eyes at times. Do you all ever have that problem … the kids wanting to swim in cold weather & pool chemicals bugging your eyes?

Yes! all the time. Even at their age they still want and have gone swimming in the winter. JVC in claremont offers an indoor swimming pool for very low cost. the kids love it. I myself have not been, but someday…

Kids do want to go swimming all the time, but living in the PNW, all pools are indoor or we don’t swim. The Ocean is my problem, it’s always cold and I hate getting in.

I know they drop a crapload of chemicals in pools when they close them up for the winter, so yeah, they’d wanna stay clear until Spring when it’s diluted a bit.

I hate pool chemicals. They burn my skin and eyes. I’ve been seeing some salt water pools lately – if I ever get one, that’s what I’m getting!
