All too often I will tell people don’t say never because you do not honestly know if that is true. It’s rare to find a “never” situation occur in ones life, but I am guilty of using the word never when it comes to various situations in my life. When I use that never word others will tell me the same thing I find myself saying to them “never say never”. It’s so true, think about it, how many times in your life have you said I will never do this or I would never do what that person did yet turn around and ended up doing in later years? Guilty I presume?! I know I am guilty of that.
So when you take a look at your life and what you want in your future or you find yourself judging others for their actions, remember you do not know how you would handle a situation if you were to be in their shoes. This goes for parents judging other parents. As a parent we may find ourselves seeing another parent doing something we don’t think too highly of and catching ourselves thinking {or saying outloud} I would never do that. You see, that never word comes up more often than we think. Did you know that you may possibly end up doing that same thing you found yourself saying you “never” would do?!
Perfect example, when I became a mother and saw other parents raising their voices at their children, I swore I would never raise my voice to my kids. What do you think happened as I started raising three children and a daughter who is so dramatic and sometimes refuses a simple chore duty?! I raised my voice, yes I am guilty. I said I would never, ever raise my voice at my children … and I have.
So the next time you feel that “never” would trying to escape your mouth you better think twice about it because you truly do not know what your future holds and never is a very long time!
Note: yes I realize my post yesterday was titled “Some May Never Understand” but it did use the word “may” with it so that was more of a possibility versus an actual never!
