I am currently a home owner but when I did rent apartments I moved pretty much once a year and remember it was so hard to find the right place. I didn’t like renting apartments and as as single Mom of one back then I wasn’t able to look for houses for rent, but honestly if I were to rent again I would prefer to find a house for rent.
I loved being a renter because I didn’t have to worry about the maintenance of being a home owner. The neighbors I had as a renter were not that great, and they changed often. I recall getting knocks on my door as late (or early) as 2am for someone looking to party, but the problem is they were not looking for me, they were looking for my neighbors. I certainly would have preferred to rent a house as a single mother … it would have not been as interesting listening to my neighbors and having random knocks on my doors but having a back yard back then would have been awesome!
Question for Thought: Are you currently looking at rentals? Which do you prefer a house or an apartment and what are you doing to find local listings for rentals?

There are pros and cons of being a renter. But I definitely love being a homeowner more than a renter. There’s just an extra sense of security and belongingness in having your own house. I guess that’s just me.

I am a renter. I would love to be a homeowner, but in our area, the average home is around $450,000 and we cannot afford that at this point. So, we are stuck renting. But there are lots of positives about renting. The fact that you don’t have to pay for any repairs is nice. And as you know, repairs in a home are almost endless.
We are currently looking for a nice rental home. But it has been a rough road. We have seen some real dusies out there. The other day, I saw one that had a terrible mold issue. It was horrible. I wonder how some landlords can even think of renting these places.

We’ve been renters for about 4 years and I can honestly say I despise it. I like having that sense of ownership and pride that comes with being a home and and owner. We’re trying to work on our credit so we can eventually purchase our own home but it’s a long road.
