A Weekend Break
February 26th, 2010 · 7 Comments
With all the sickness being passed around in my house and whatever this is I have dragging me down physically, making it hard to breath or even move I must say I want to spend this weekend enjoying my family. I want to relax on the couch and cheer (if I can) on my children as they play Wii Sports Resort together. I want to play Geusstures and giggle at their silly gestures! I want nothing more than to sit back and enjoy the life of a Mom.
It’s funny how we start to work from home and allow it to consume us, well because we need that money to pay this bill and that bill. What if you had only today to enjoy your children’s laughter just one last time? What if you could not have children and a child’s laughter is all you yearned to hear? I bet you would take longer moments in your day to hug those in your life you love most. I know this weekend I plan to get unplugged, which means my Saturday Giveaway Linky post is being scheduled Thursday evening and this post is being written Thursday late night so that I can complete a few last finishing touches on client work on Friday and then call it a day so I can enjoy my children just a bit longer and a bit more … they deserve Mama and Mama deserves them. I know just the idea of getting hugs and smiles all weekend long makes me feel better already!
Who knows this may be a start for a wonderful year, one in which I no longer work late nights on weekends after the kids go to bed but rather read a book, like The Happiness Project. Yeah my best friend @mommadjane mailed me an autographed copy since I am going through so much right now … I am ready to start reading it! I will have my Blackberry on with access to web, email, Twitter and Facebook but will not be hovering over it as often as I do during working hours!
So what are you waiting for? Will you try to unplug to visit with your loved ones this weekend? There will always be Monday to get a fresh start on your week of work again!
Have you smiled today?

Indeed we need to stop and smell the flower along the way. There is a saying, “Break is necessary in order to take on the journey ahead.”

It is so easy to justify sacrificing family time to work, no matter if you’re working from home or at an office, but you’re right – the fact remains that the time spent with our children is in MANY ways MORE valuable than the time we spend earning money to support them. Yes, we need to pay the bills, but our kids need to know their worth also!
