Not sure if you remember but a while back I had to start searching for auto insurance quotes because we had to let the insurance cancel in order to try to pay what we could towards our mortgage. I knew that my husband needed car insurance (proof of insurance) until April 2010. In NH we are not required by law to hold car insurance unless you get into an accident uninsurance or get some sort of traffic violations. My husband has a bit of everything, I really hope his younger driving years are not a reflection of what our sons will be like!
Anyways … we had to search high and low to find the best possible automobile insurance rates and let me tell you there are a ton of car insurance carriers out there, aren’t there?! It’s insane!
Eventually we were able to get some pretty decent quotes and luckily I think that my really great driving record was able to offset the cost of his previous driving record. I haven’t ever driven without car insurance since getting my drivers license at age 16. I am now 28 years old and the only thing on my driving record is from the year 2000 when I was 18. Of course the one thing I had on my record from back then wasn’t the best thing to have, but at least it’s now been 10 years without anything on my driving record so I am pretty sure it’s not going to mess with my insurance rates.
We were finally able to find a great rate through the company that held our previous car insurance and is our current home owners insurance carrier. The reason we finally went through this firm again was because we get discounts on having our home owners insurance through them and the customer service rocks! Any company that is going to go up and beyond that of another company in customer service usually wins me over immediately!
So what do you do when you are looking for the most competitive car insurance ratings? Do you get online car insurance quotes? Do you shop in person at local car insurance brokers? I am curious what you do to find the best possible ratings.
