Friends Forever

November 21st, 2009 · 2 Comments

I am not sure where this poem came from other than inside my head when  I was in 10th grade …. but I wanted to share with you some of my poems over the weekend and so here is my poem I called Friends Forever and yes it’s written by ME back in 10th grade, so I was about 17 then I believe …

Two lovely angels, as we were known
Similar yet different, still basically one
Two years flew by, our friendship had grown
So hard to accept that your living is done

Places to go and people to see
A motto we would commonly say
During our break we sat near the tree
Oh why was it you who passed away?

This is a time meant for mourning
So I sit by my bed and cry a while
Thinking of those days we would sing
And that rainy day we jogged a mile

I frown about the day you left
Yet smile about the memories in the past
The taking of your life was indeed a theft
As you watch over me, know that our friendship will forever last.

I can honestly say I don’t remember a situation or event that happened in real life, but I can tell you that most of my poetry was written during times of sadness. I was a different person back in those days, often sad, I hadn’t found my happy yet nor did I know how to focus on the positive. I can honestly say I am happy to be the person I am today, but remember we all couldn’t be the person we are today without the person we were yesterday!

Make it a Happy Day!

Your poem is so haunting…very mature for a 17-yr-old.
