As per my previous post most of you know that I received a BlackBerry Tour from Research in Motion and Verizon Wireless. As I tweet on Twitter, network on Facebook and write weekly blog posts about my new friend I have found some questions are coming in from my blog readers and friends. This post is a way for me to follow up with my weekly update on the BlackBerry Tour and be able to answer some questions that have come up. I hope this gives you some insight on the BlackBerry Tour.
The questions in this blog post came from Mark (@carolinaware) and he has a blog called TheWareHouse.
How I Was Able to Connect With Research In Motion
This is a pretty interesting question so I will start with my journey to find a smartphone with affordable service plan that is based on my needs as a blogger, social media queen and entrepreneur.
A little over a month ago my husband and I had been debating on getting me a smartphone of sorts so that I would be able to go to more events with the children but still be connected to the virtual world I have grown to love and need to survive in the blogosphere. After much consideration we had determined that we would be getting a smartphone some day but the plan was put on the back burner for more urgent family matters.
My dear friend Jessica Knows wrote a blog post inviting her PR contacts to work with a new blogger during one week in August. As a loyal reader of her blog, a former student of her Rock Your Blog course and a big fan of her ability to help others in marketing, social media and more I felt I would enter my blog information in hopes to find a new company to work with. Then it happened, I was approached by Weber Shandwick who wanted to have me help spread the word of The Blackberry Diaries: Adventures in Modern Motherhood and Kathy Buckworth’s book tour. Not only did they wish for me to work on a review and giveaway for The Blackberry Diaries but they stated Research in Motion and Verizon Wireless wanted to send me a Blackberry as a way for me to document how raising kids and staying connected works for me or as Kathy Buckworth states “collide”.
Are You Able To Use Twitter From The BlackBerry Tour As Easy As On The Web
@carolinaware noticed I stated I was not that tech savvy and wanted to know, “Are you able to Twitter just as easily from the phone as you do the computer?”
Yes I have been able to connect on Twitter very easily using my Blackberry Tour. First I had to put some tweets out there to see what application others recommended and I found most use Ubertwitter to include my friend Linda over at Short Pump Preppy. After much consideration I decided to use two applications; Ubertwitter and Twitterberry.
Twitterberry is awesome because it looks very similar to the web version of Twitter and I find it easy to get @replies and Direct Messages as well as to update my status. Ubertwitter is pretty neat because I can send video as well as pictures. Twitterberry only offers picture sharing not video. I am a big video blogger and so sending video on Twitter is a very important feature to me.
So overall YES I have been able to successfully use Twitter via the BlackBerry tour with no problems. The applications are easy to use and if I have any questions I have been able to find the answers really quickly using hashtag #blackberry on Twitter.
Are You Able To Access Your Blog Fully Using The BlackBerry Tour
I will be honest in that I can access my blog using the BlackBerry Tour, but it’s not a mobile version website and so that limits what I can do or see. Other websites I like to visit like Type-A-Mom and Facebook have mobile version sites and so that allows very easy navigation on my BlackBerry Tour.
Thank you Mark @carolinaware for asking the questions I am sure many have had on their minds. Keep the questions coming and advice coming I am happy to share your thoughts and answer your questions. Every Saturday I will have a blog post dedicated to my new friend BlackBerry Tour .

New Blog Post: Questions About BlackBerry Tour http://bit.ly/2nKZjC
Now THIS WAS INFORMATIVE. I appreciate all the answers. I decided to go with the BB Storm ’cause I am enamored with the touch screen (I had a Venus and a Voyager) but the Tour is going to be coming into my household as well so the review/questions were STILL right on time as they not only apply to the Tour but to my brand new Storm as well.
At this point, I am using Ubertwitter and love it. Probably more than I do Tweetdeck on my Laptop at this point. I can see how people can get ‘cracked out’ on these things. I find myself sitting in front of the laptop but STILL USING THE BB. It is wild. Which is what I wanted. To not be a slave to laptop anymore. I think both of these phones have/will accomplish that.
I will be keeping people posted as well on how I am doing with my Storm and when the Tour arrives, I will do the same. THANK YOU AGAIN for answering all of my questions to the fullest. You are indeed the WOMAN for that!
Warm regards,
Mark (Carolinaware)

I have an ENVY which I HATE with everything within me!!!!! LOL!!!!
but, I do have the 1st Gen iPod Touch which I love. I can still be in contact with my online world with it but, its limited with needing a Wi-Fi connection. I’m hoping that the new iPod Touch comes out with a camera and the speaker system which its “suppose” to in a month so if that is the case i can use the Skype App and still be able to talk to my ppl. So it will almost be like a phone…lol I’m looking forward to it possibly having a camera on it!
I’m currently in school plus tryin to run a household so, I can’t afford one
