It’s that time of year again … birthday party season! I am currently planning a double birthday party for my boys, even had the help of a party planner in exchange for a review, can’t wait to write about their fantastic service! I have been accepting reviews this past month as a way to find creative toys for the boys who will be 1 and 3 in August. I am not a HUGE giver of presents on birthdays, call me old fashioned but I am more for the family get togethers and creating everlasting memories.
Looking back in the past three years of AJ’s life … gosh he was born to a Mom who was not ready to be a Mom again. Although I fell in love with my little guy from day 1, something inside of me was not right, whether it be postpartum depression or something else, I was not ready to nurse another baby and cuddle him the way a Mom should to their newborn child. Do I regret not being as motherly to my second born as my first, well of course I do, but the past is the past and all I can do is focus on a positive future that is full of mommy chasing AJ around the house playing monsters and sometimes I get a calm moment where AJ will come up to me with a sweet look on his face, wrap his arms around me and say “I wuv you Mama”. Those are the memories I cherish and those are the memories I plan to make in the many years we have ahead of us as Mother and son.
My dear sweet Baby K was born to a Mom who was ready to be a Mama again. I was very much the loving, snuggle bug Mama I was to Miss Ki back in the baby years. Baby K is a cross between his sisters sweet, kind nature and his brothers agressive, hyperactive self. Baby K will be 1 in August and he will share his party with big brother AJ. I look forward to seeing what the future brings for Baby K and enjoy creating memories of crawling all over the house while he giggles and crawls right along behind me.
Now for the party, we will be having a special day on the exact birthday for each boy and holding a get together for family and friends to celebrate the boys birthday on one day in between their actual birthdays. I think this is best, because in all reality we would never get the family and friends to come to two parties two weekends in a row!
Is it bad that I haven’t even sent out invitations? Normally I am on the ball, mailing invitations out to every single relative and living person in my address book TWO months in advance. This year I am mailing them maybe two weeks in advance … tis’ the life of a Mom of three. I tell you I have never been more off in my scheduling, arriving at an event, remembering appointments and thinking straight than I am now as a Mom of three. It’s funny how each time a new child is brought into the home, we the parents start losing bits and pieces of our memory. I guess it’s because our memory is full of fun kid times, not important appointments
And so it begins, the journey of two boys who are exactly two years and six days apart … watch out world Baby K and AJ are on their way!!

New Blog Post: I Love A Good Birthday Party http://bit.ly/RtyJG
I feel you!!! I have two birthday celebrations in August as well. My son will be turning 4 & then two weeks later our daughter will be one. I decided to have them separate this year but will definitely throw some combined ones in from time to time. I wanted to do like you are & have it right in between but unfortunately the week in between their’s is our nephew … it’s birthday central around here!! I’ll have to click on all your links for some inspiration!

Still have not sent out bday invitations for boys double party: http://tinyurl.com/nojs5z Ooopseee!
i just wanted to commend you for being so honest about your vacilating feelings of mothering at different times in your life. that’s refreshing, as most conversations gloss over the less-than-ideal parts of welcoming a new member of the family.
one tradition that we’ve instituted over the last few years in our home is the “alternating birthday celebration.”
our boys get to have a party on alternating years — as a way to teach our boys a way to appreciate both “small” and “big” celebrations *and* also as a way to make their special day EXTRA special every other year. but i like your dual-party idea too! good for you!

That sounds really great to have a double party for your kids. I do that every few years at my moms. My family is not local to me, so it is nice to do something special every few years to celebrate my kid’s birthdays. We do a small party at home otherwise with just a couple gifts. Though I am not able to do a whole shabang every year. I always make sure that each child’s birthday is special. I have their favorite cake, balloons, and make their favorite food – and of course the gifts.
Well, I hope you have an awesome time and take lots of pictures. Don’t worry about the invitations. I hardly ever do them when it comes to my family. I just make a few calls and plan in that way. We can’t do everything!

My daughter just had her 2nd b-day 2 weeks ago. It’s so hard planning a party. It must be even harder for 2 born the same month. I’m thinking of doing reviews too.
