I feel you!!! I have two birthday celebrations in August as well. My son will be turning 4 & then two weeks later our daughter will be one. I decided to have them separate this year but will definitely throw some combined ones in from time to time. I wanted to do like you are & have it right in between but unfortunately the week in between their’s is our nephew … it’s birthday central around here!! I’ll have to click on all your links for some inspiration!

i just wanted to commend you for being so honest about your vacilating feelings of mothering at different times in your life. that’s refreshing, as most conversations gloss over the less-than-ideal parts of welcoming a new member of the family.

one tradition that we’ve instituted over the last few years in our home is the “alternating birthday celebration.” ;) our boys get to have a party on alternating years — as a way to teach our boys a way to appreciate both “small” and “big” celebrations *and* also as a way to make their special day EXTRA special every other year. but i like your dual-party idea too! good for you!

That sounds really great to have a double party for your kids. I do that every few years at my moms. My family is not local to me, so it is nice to do something special every few years to celebrate my kid’s birthdays. We do a small party at home otherwise with just a couple gifts. Though I am not able to do a whole shabang every year. I always make sure that each child’s birthday is special. I have their favorite cake, balloons, and make their favorite food – and of course the gifts. :)

Well, I hope you have an awesome time and take lots of pictures. Don’t worry about the invitations. I hardly ever do them when it comes to my family. I just make a few calls and plan in that way. We can’t do everything! :)

My daughter just had her 2nd b-day 2 weeks ago. It’s so hard planning a party. It must be even harder for 2 born the same month. I’m thinking of doing reviews too.
