The Tickle Trunk Onyx Ice Cube Trays {giveaway}
May 6th, 2009 · 116 Comments
The Tickle Trunk is happy to announce their Onyx Ice Cube trays dating back to the 1950’s. I must admit when I first received this ice cube tray I wondered “how do I use this thing?”. Being born in 1981, I really had no clue about any other type of ice cube tray except those plastic ones you purchase at Walmart.
I called on my step mother who happened to be visiting with my father one day. She told me they were super popular back in the 50’s and 60’s. Then I talked to Mom, she said the same thing. Geez what world have I been living in?!
Anyways these are fantastic ice cube trays. Made from 18/8 stainless steel, in case you didn’t know what the 18/8 means; aproximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel allowing the product to be super resistant to corrosion.
How do you use this style ice cube tray?
- Fill with water.
- Place in freezer.
- Take out of freezer when frozen.
- Pull lever up on the tray.
- Voila – ice cubes in a nice little “tray”.
Why do I recommend this product?
- Easier than those other trays.
- Simple pull of a lever and ice cubes are ready for use.
- No more twisting and breaking those plastic trays.
- Longer lasting because it’s made of stainless steel.
How can I get one?
- Shop online at The Tickle Trunk.

I like the ice cube trays I remember my grandmother having these but my family threw them out when she had to be put in assisted living
I love these ice cube trays! But, that seems like cheating, so I’ll add that I also like the small cups they have. We’re transitioning my daughter to a real cup and that might be the perfect solution.
I like the products, that is so awesome. My favorite is the ice cube trays though…I think they are so neato!

Water Bottle 12 oz – 355 ml is what I like because I drink alof of bottled water and have heard that the plastic in the bottle can cause cancer.

The Food Storage Container (140mm) is the same thing they sell in Korea to hold fermented kimmchi (cabbage); it holds in the smell very well – it’s airtight.
I love the stainless steel plate. It is perfect for a picnic or casual dinner on the deck.
I really like the Water Bottle ‘Pink’ 18 oz – 532 ml. I have been looking for a really cute water bottle for work, and this one would work perfectly. It would be cute on my desk and much better for the environment then those plastic bottles.

I love the Silver Cutlery Set! Thanks for the chance!
I like the stainless steel water bottle. I don’t like using a plastic bottle after all of the health data has come out. I’ve been meaning to get a stainless steel water bottle.
I would get the food storage container. I like that its airtight.
I like the stainless steel cups…they are so strong and durable, and don’t stain like plastic cups. I would like the popsicle molds, but they don’t have them yet.
I just subscribed!
I like the 12 oz. water bottles. I need one for each of the kids. We use plastic water containers, and I try to reuse them, but the kids smash them alot and I just feel they are so wasteful. I would love the ice cube tray because just two weeks ago I bought another plastic tray from the dollar store and its cracked. I have to throw it out already and get a new one!

I really like the Food Storage Container 4 because I pack a lunch everyday and use a brown paper bag. The stainless-steel container has inner containers in which I could layer snacks on top of a salad! Great stuff!
