“Our goal at With Child is to HELP women. True, we are a retail store and eventually I’d like to make a living
, but we are in a small town and our customers become our friends, so we are dedicated to finding stylish, high-quality, comfortable clothing and accessories that women want, need and enjoy. Pregnancy and motherhood are wonderful experiences, but they can leave women feeling badly about their bodies, stressed out, overworked, etc. We’re here to make things easier and more enjoyable in any way we can!”
- Nursing bras… Nursing bras are difficult to find, hard to size and not always comfortable. We have found Bravado’s unique styles to work the best. We offer two different types and which to choose is simply a matter of preference. When being sized for a nursing bra, it is important to wait until your milk comes in. That could take up to 10 days after the baby is born. Many women do not want to wait that long and want to have something to bring to the hospital. In that case, I recommend the Original Nursing Bra style. These bras have a range of sizes that they fit. Women should buy the correct band size and account for an extra cup (or 2) for the milk! Once the milk is in, a woman should be properly fitted for a nursing bra. The staff at With Child are certified fitters, and can even help with this over the phone. With a proper fit, most women prefer the Life Style bra by Bravado. These are sized like regular bras and look like them as well, minus the underwire, of course.
- Nursing Tank… I LOVED my nursing tanks, and wore them almost daily! A nursing tank, in my opinion, is the best option to take to the hospital. It’s extremely comfortable, easy to size, and works great!! The Bravado tanks are long in the stomach, so they don’t ride up at all. They are stretchy, but not too tight, and work great in lots of situations. They are thick enough to be worn alone. They are great for sleeping, when you have to wake up every two hours to feed a newborn. They work well under other shirts, because your stomach doesn’t show when you lift up your shirt to nurse. When ladies buy one tank, they always come back for more! They are wonderful.
- Lily Padz… Lily Padz are the Cadillac of breast pads. They are made of a non-absorbent material that conforms to your body so they are virtually invisible under clothes and they actually PREVENT leakage rather than soak it up! They are reusable and one pair should last about 2 months. Again, ladies who use them never go back to regular ol’ breast pads.
- Nipple Cream… 000000;">Earth Mama Angel Baby is clinically tested, non-irritating natural nipple cream! The first organic, all natural, plant-based balm created without lanolin, so it is certified vegan too. Earth Mama Angel Baby’s Natural Nipple Butter is a rich, organic nipple cream, made with naturally healing organic calendula, cocoa butter, shea butter and mango butter. It is clinically tested and safe for both nursing mamas and babies – no need to wash it off before nursing – and it is hospital recommended! We all know that breastfeeding is a wonder of nature, and the best way to nourish your new little one. But sore nipples are no petty predicament. Sore and cracked nipples can diminish some of the joy of nursing, so keeping them nourished, protected and moisturized helps you as you nourish your angel baby, naturally.
- Nursing Cover… We carry Bebe au Lait / Hooter Hider nursing covers. We chose this brand because they are 100% Cotton, have a terrycloth pocket detail for quick cleanup or storage of breast pads or pacifiers, and are machine washable. However, the most important feature is the unique rigid neckline that allows for ventilation, as well as direct eye contact with the baby! These covers are the best! I used mine constantly, whether it was at home with company or out to dinner. Breastfeeding can be very lonely if you have to leave every time you nurse the baby, which can be 12 times a day for up to an hour each time at first! A cover is necessary for women who want to be discrete while doing what is best for their baby.
