My name is Lily and I am a mom to a 2 1/2 year-old boy, who is the love of my life. I know that a lot of parents have said, but knowing the troubles that I went through to conceive, the miracle that’s my, son is the greatest thing that could have (and did) happen to me.
The decision about breastfeeding goes back to my upbringing. My mom breastfed both my brother and myself. I was always hoping and praying that I would be blessed enough to give my child the same nutrients that my mom was able to pass onto me. I know that in today’s world, breastfeeding is not always convenient, or to some it doesn’t quite come natural. But what I don’t like about some women deciding to not breastfeed their child is the selfish reason of not wanting to sacrifise their boobs to breasfeeding challenges.
I have breasfed my son for 15 months and proud of every single second. My baby was never sick, excelled at growth charts at every check up, and the brain development of his is beyond any of our comprehension. Not only have we realized his intelligence, but friends and others who have met him at play groups for the first time. Now, I am not certifying my son as a genius or a prodigy, but I am proud of him and his ability to understand, communicate in two languages, and utilize his common sense better than some adults.
I have seen many commercials for the baby formulas advertising it as: Now, DHA (found in breasmilk) added for better brain development. This means that they are trying to duplicate something that mother nature have already gave us the ability to naturally produce. On the other hand, I am glad for formulas for those moms who are not able to produce breastmilk or for those whose milk is not of good quality.
I am personally grateful to have been able to give my son the best start in life that I could have possible given him. If I have any more children in the future, I will do the same.

There is nothing like the feeling that comes from seeing glowing, chubby cheeks and knowing the are sustained only by your breastmilk. It’s awesome. I wish everyone could experience it.

I nursed my three kids, who were three years apart, for about three years each. They are now 14, 18 and 21. They’re beautiful, super healthy, loving and they all love babies!
