So I was excited I had a Gold Canyon open house today! What I did not realize is what the term open house means.
By definition an open house is “ready and usually informal hospitality or entertainment for all comers” as taken from Merriam Websters online dictionary. Which basically means my home was going to be open for a certain period of time to have people stop in and view my products & catalogs and ask questions. What I meant to have was a “home party” where people gathered together at one time (mainly 1pm eastern) and I spoke a little bit about the company and our products.
So silly me used the term open house and only one person showed with their friend. My mother was going to come and show support and so was a person I met online. My mother got stuck in her driveway and the online friend just called to tell me her daughter’s car broke down so she could not make it in time, since she is having a show for her own business tonight she can not make it but hopes to meet up with me this week. Which is great, as I am always up for new friends!
The two people who did show up decided to buy Gold Canyons Homeology All Purpose Cleaner for $10.98 and a Homespun Holidays Sleigh Bells candle for $17.98. They also said if we get a diffuser in Vanilla scent they SO will buy it….ok Gold Canyon…let’s get a vanilla difusser soon please! They also want to try our Emerge lotion, but I didn’t have that on hand. I let them know I have samplers on order and will have them this week so I am to call her so she can test it – future order – MAYBE!
So for my first open house I guess it went well and I made one sale so far, I have another person who has my catalog and I am picking up her order request and payment on Monday. My father also requested to order a few things so I guess my open house idea wasn’t a complete waste of my time as it opened peoples eyes to me being here and now they know I am a Gold Canyon Independent Demonstrator so they can come to me for all their household needs!
